Hi all

Would this 36v Wisper controller handle a 48V battery?

Probably not. You can check the main capacitor's voltage rating to check that it won't blow. It ideally needs to be 63v or above to be safe. A 48v battery reaches 54.6v, so anything above that is theoretically OK. The rest of the components will probably be OK, though you can never be sure.

The next problem is you won't have any low voltage control to switch off the battery when it gets to 41v and your display will show the battery full all the time. Also, some displays can't handle 48v.

Ok. Is there maybe a simple way of converting the battery voltage to 36v?

Also. Same question and I suppose same answer regarding a different 36v controller. This Mid drive 36v controller also wouldn’t handle the 48v battery?58804

No, and even if it did, it would be useless because it would spin the crank 30% faster, which might not suit your pedalling. If you pedal at the normal 60 rpm, the motor would run inefficiently, but if you're a spinner with a background in BMX racing, it might be an improvement.
