i have a carrera subway it has a nominal 250w max 400w hesc sr suntour rear hub ,20a Kt controller ,lcd8h display , am i better off with a 36v or 48v battery
i have some steep hills near me what ever direction i go worst being nearly 1 in 4 im about 20 stone may be more but i may drive to some where flater an use the bike
also i have the original battery36v 8.7ah with a broken bms i could use the case, mount, charger an cells .i would be happy spot welding an soldering ,what i dont understand is the amps and watts i could add more cells to my battery and replace the zink strips but i dont know a good bms from a cheap one an i would want a on/off switch on the battery. my bms had shut down after being in storage for a long period ,a few cells had dropped to 16v the others were at 22v the scocket on the bms for the led battery leavel an touch button for power on /off just fell of the board as soon as i touched it i would not class myself as a hamfisted numpty so i dont know if somone had been in here before they had not damaged the click together case if they had ,the battery has sat at 31v for a few weeks now so if i had a bms that my small circuit board would plug in to id be happy to use it or do i just buy another battery (cells in mine are ncr18650pf there are 30 of them an 10 empty spaces )
so
a) 36 or 48
b)buy or build
thanks paul

Carrera's are 36v, On expects 48v will smoke the controller.

I missed the Kt controller, 48v will work but if it is the 6 mosfet controller, watch out for over heating and thermal cut outs as at 48v they get very hot if one climbs hills slowly.

Battery wise buy a 48v one.
