I just watched the Cycle Show on TV. They started with a bit about the Tour de France. Where's the first two stages? That's right, Yorkshire! I know they speak a bit funny up there, but could it be mistaken for French..............by the French? Or have the French re-defined their boarders? I'm getting worried: Yorkshire isn't so far from Tellford.

It's going to be hell for at least a week. There's gridlock on a normal sunny day in Wensleydale, without thousands of enthusiasts and the roads closed. Can't wait:-D

One of the stages starts in York. They got rid off 20,000 free tickets in 4 hours just to hang around the racecourse grandstand and see the riders preparing to start the race, not actually doing it! But it's something for nothing, at York's favourite price. That's Yorkshire folk for you!

Policy for a few years now, the Tour starts in different European countries each year, basically a self-promotion by the French. Let's face it, it's far, far better event than our lacklustre Tour of Britain.

Of course we have to mess things up, one of the years with a London start the Metropolitan Police contrived to misdirect many of the cyclists onto the wrong route into an old dock area with buried rail line grooves like tramlines, completely wrecking the stage results. :(

Not a problem in York - no trams!
