March 17, 201412 yr We've just issued all the details of the 2014 KTM Macina Lycan to our UK dealer network. A number of dealers have already pre-ordered so we know there will be stock in the UK from mid May. £3449.99 RRP
March 17, 201412 yr Author We can't wait to try it!! And we think we will be the first brand to have the new BOSCH NYON display
March 18, 201412 yr Any tips on how to justify buying that as a commuter to the other half? Just buy it. If she complains, just take off for a very long ride. Oh and explain who's boss when you finally get back home with a big grin on your face.
March 23, 201412 yr SRS, he would be returning without the bike. I'd have mugged him for it. If the real deal is a good as the mock up, then I'm giving it my personal E-MTB of the year award.
March 23, 201412 yr SRS, he would be returning without the bike. I'd have mugged him for it. Eddie, only if you want to be mugged the following day. It does look particularly nice.
March 23, 201412 yr It's orange and black, how could it look have ever looked horrid. All KTM's should be this colour. Ref the mugging, KTM are only going to need to sell one bike. Each day the current owner would get get mugged, and so the cycle continues.
March 24, 201412 yr Chain and pedals...How is the Zephyr doing these days? It looks as though the British winter has been very kind to it. http://s30.postimg.org/cflz01l8h/T2e_C16_NHJHg_FFm_N7fo0_BS_o_W0wq_60_12.jpg
March 24, 201412 yr Ha ha! I like it! Actually my granddad used to have a full-size one of those in the 60s, pale blue over black I think it was.
April 5, 201412 yr A sure fire winner, and along with the 'not available' Lappierre Overvolt, at the top of my wish list. David, are you going to be stocking this? http://www.ktm-bikes.at/en/bikes/e-bike.html?action=bike_details&bike_id=299&cHash=dfd53e632f8fa869d4fa1ee693b78bc9 http://i973.photobucket.com/albums/ae217/eddiejefferies/macina_lycan_27_48_black_matt_orange_zps7c564c45.jpg Edited April 5, 201412 yr by EddiePJ
April 5, 201412 yr The KTM looks a lot better than the Overvolt. Rather over beefy looking rear triangle on the Overvolt.
April 6, 201412 yr Strange how we all see things differently. I don't see it like that at all, and love the 'gull arm' look. I would imagine that both bikes are good, but without question, the KTM gets my vote. It looks more durable and built to last. I got to stop looking at this thread! I'm still a hub drive fan at heart, so would have to ride the hub drive back to back against the mid drive, before drawing any real conclusions.
April 6, 201412 yr Yup, l got to admit that although I'm pretty much sold on the Panasonic hub driven e Lycan that the Bosch driven version certainly makes me think twice; It looks a bit more purposeful, I prefer the rear suspension geometry and higher spec hardware but knowing that the hub drive is really strong and the gearing more flexible on the e Lucan p, this is the one I'd go for... Cheaper too ;-)

April 11, 201412 yr David, are you going to be stocking this? It is one I am considering. Although I tend to have less interest locally in full suspension bikes, generally more of our customers want touring bikes or commuting bikes. I am happy to take pre-orders 5% discount for peddelec members just quote EC. Edited April 11, 201412 yr by Electrifying Cycles
May 13, 201411 yr David, besides my own interest, it looks as though I might have just steered someone towards the new KTM. He had thought about buying a BH, but we sat down today and had a lengthy discussion about what his requirements were, and I conceded that a mid drive system would suit his requirements better. He had looked at Haibikes last night on the internet, then I showed him photos of the KTM along with it's spec and RRP, and that was enough to convince him. I'm still going to take him out on both of my bikes, just to show him how the motors are very different from one another, but as he still wants to feel as though he is doing the work, plus a requirement to cover distance, then I reckon the KTM will swing it. One question that I couldn't answer though, was about warranty cover and what is/isn't covered, and also how long that the warranty period actually is. If you could answer this, then I'll pass the details on.

July 13, 201411 yr Hi, does anyone have a KTM Macina Lycan 27+GPS yet ? I live in Australia and we dont expect to see them for about 3 to 4 weeks. I was interested to knowif they have been released and a review ....
July 13, 201411 yr Author The bikes landed in the UK this week with selected dealers, however they don't have the new Nyon GPS display yet. Bosch have delayed them by a few weeks, so we shipped the bikes with the standard display, and then when we get the Nyon displays the bikes can go back into dealers to have them upgraded for free.
