2014 KTM Macina Bold with Cycling Active Magazine

We're making a real effort to get eBikes into the mainstream cycling press this year. We feel this will benefit the whole industry.

Cycling Active Magazine have a KTM Macina Bold. We've given them the full step though frame style, but this bike also comes in a gents style frame with traditional top tup and a ladies style dropped top tube.

Each of the three frame styles comes in size options.

Their first impressions feature in the March issue which is on the shelves now.

Its on long term test for the whole year with Hugh, who is the News Editor of Cycling Weekly & Cycle Sport magazines.

His first impressions make an interesting read.

"...i feel I've made a similar betrayal of my cycling roots by ordering one of the KTM eBikes."

but by the end...

" in fact, having an eBike might allow me to enjoy the thrills of cycling even more often. I reckon there are occasions when I would take the assistance of an eBike when I wouldn't otherwise go by conventional cycle."

We are looking forward to seeing him hopefully converted to seeing the relevance of eBikes in the UK.

the other interesting observation is that, in a mainstream cycling magazine, eBikes are still seen as a concept... all his comments are about eBikes, not about the KTM, or the Bosch drive or anything specific to our bike.

lots of work to do by the industry as a whole to get the bikes out of the darkness.

The first e-bike I fell for was a Macina Bold at the Manifold do organised by KudosDave last year. I was so close to ordering one but went on to try many more. Few had the overall appeal for me but what you got for your money a very good choice.
