This was a big surprise when we went over to Germany in August, we had no idea it was in the works. The Image bike they've based it on had some excellent reviews in 2009/2010, so they've rewarded it in 2011 for being such a good bike.

They're going to be available from around March, we'll be taking pre-orders shortly though.

while BionX an interesting development, the 18Ah battery and "S" models puts the Kalkhoff Panasonic bikes top of my list now.....

I prefer either the Sahel S or PC S (in black now I think:p) will these be available in the UK? and if so when, and what kind of price:eek: (autumn price please:D)

Can either of these 2 bikes be specified with 9 speed XT? as weight a concern with the camper, and 11 speed alfina a bit OTT I think (for me anyway)

Kalkhoff are really coming up with the goods for 2011, now with a choice of Pansonic or Bionx powered bikes to match anything on market for quality, performance and relability.

Looks fantastic - but that seat looks a bit too sharp for me! :D

It looks a great bike. Any indication of the likely price - so I can start saving?:)

I do like the look of the new Sahel Pro S!
I really do as well (except colour) But I think it will be heavy with that 11 speed alfina?:(

with Flyer you can more or less spec the bike as you wish (at a price:p )

Surprisingly it's actually the reverse Eddie:

Lighter than the current eight-speed model, Shimano's new SG-S700 Alfine hub offers an additional three gear ratios, a wider overall gear range, smaller steps between ratios and improved shifting performance, all packed into a shell no bigger, if less aesthetically pleasing, than the eight.

Oh......

I do like the 9 speed XT dérailleur though, surely this must be much lighter?

Plus it is an expensive bike, for not a lot more I can get a Swiss flyer..the real deal!:D

Yes, the derailleur will be lighter and also more efficient.

That's the missing bit in the 11 speed hub information, and why it uses oil instead of grease. Of necessity, it's compounding of epicyclics within a compact hub to get 11 speeds means potentially higher inefficiency which the use of oil will keep within reasonable limits.

Yes, be interesting to know if 50 cycles are going to allow orders for the 2011 range before Jan 1st, to beat the rise in VAT. On their prices, it could save aound £50. Is that possible, Tim?

The way I read it you have to purchase goods in full before deadline to avoid VAT rise.....My new motorhome probably not available till next year so I am a bit annoyed:(

Yes, you have to pay up front within this year to escape the extra 2.5%.

Previously confirmed by a BBC Radio 4 "Money Box" program.

That sounds even more worrying then I originally thought, and backs up what the elderly and wise looking Swiss rep from Flyer said to me in Germany "not reliable enough"

The new 2011 PC S (in black:p) maybe better then. new 10 speed XT, front suspension etc..... and maybe lighter, also a bit cheaper

Is the PC S a comfortable bike though, as I am sure I have read it is not that comfortable.......

It's the standard Pro Connect that is the uncomfortable one for many Eddie, it has no suspension forks or suspension seatpost.

The Pro Connect S has suspension forks and you could add a good sprung seatpost as well if wished.

Yes, we're definitely taking deposits on 2011 models, but will have to charge 20% VAT on the remainder if due after January 1st. Best to call us on 0800 0288 116 to arrange, or by email if your prefer
