Hi Im new to this forum, so hi everyone :), Just want to say I found this bike fantastic as i have arthritic knees, and this was great for getting around, visiting friends, shopping and for work. Infact I would not be without it, the problem being it has stopped working, the motor is just not kicking in properly, and im not sure if it is the battery(after all I have had it 2 years now) or the motor. It did get very wet of late too. I am thinking of buying a new one as the battery is around 230 pounds. If i get it serviced this could cost quite a lot , and to actually buy a new one is going to cost me 400 pounds. This bike has saved me so much money over the last two years that it sure has been worth the money in more ways than one. It would be worth buying again.

Its a great bike , sturdy, it is great on the hills, it doesnt have a throttle , but is just pedal assisted, believe me i used the assisted most of the time, as its very difficult to pedal without the assist.
For the price of the bike , its great, can only be bought at tesco s direct at the moment. This bike has had plenty of great reviews.

Downside, no where to take it where I live, they have no idea when it comes to electric bikes

I have been considering a fold up cheetah, however not sure as it only has 16inch wheels, and the frame does not look as sturdy as the hopper. I do like the idea of having a throttle though, sure sounds fun to ride.

Welcome Rachel.
If you tell us where you live, there may be someone who knows where you can get assistance, or may even offer it.
I thought someone had fitted an aftermarket throttle to a city hopper, but I may be wrong.

You can get your battery for £155 including delivery from BMSBattery. You might have to pay an extra £20 for duty/handling. You shouldn't get a new battery unless you can prove that your present one is defective.

Have a look at your pedal sensor. Make sure that the magnet disc is nice and close too the sensor. Just push it closer if there's a gap. It shouldn't touch, but should be close.

As you can tell i have no idea with these bikes, as didnt know there was a pedal sensor, will have a look though

For the hopper you have to buy it in the casing, which then fits at the back of the saddle, and have no choice but to buy from the manufacturers

Hi if you go for a new one make sure you buy the blue at £420 as the two cheaper models have a smaller battery. You would of course have a new battery and be able to eliminate at least one of the problems on the old bike.

Agree these bikes are great value, assuming it is worth £50-100 as non runner you have had the joys of e-biking for less than 50p a day.

Not true! The battery and its mounting arrangement are a standard system that can be bought from a large range of different suppliers. It's identical to and interchangeable with the one I mentioned above. You can also get a bigger battery that fits the same mounting plate if you want more range.

The pedal sensor is at the bottom of your bike behind the big cog-wheel that's attached to the pedal. It looks something like this:

There is at least one forum member in Coventry who is a kit builder, so has experience 'messing around' with ebikes - Zebb, I think (but not 100% sure). A thread 'Help in Coventry' or similar may elicit an offer of help before you go down the road of spending money.

Hi d8veh, thank you for your post, I have just had a look and to be honest it looks like it has come off, there is a black round bit of metal which is loose, I do think that is the problem, the sensor is broken, i cannot remember it being loose till about a week ok which ties in with it not working

Thank you for your help, I am going to buy a new one and then get this one sorted at some point in time :) Anyone want to buy a hopper lol

The black disc sits on a spindle that is tapered. All you need to do is push it close to the sensor (away from the cog-wheel) and it will go tight again and rotate with the pedal.
