Finding my (electric) wheels

I found some information on the new powabykes on airstreamgroup.com. Looks like a huge improvement from the previous models, but the range is a little disapointing. Only 25 kilometers, i get at least twice of that on my Shopper.
Check out the link below:

never seen befor but looks familiar

on first glance the first one looked very nice, then i thought.."doesnt that remind me of pro-connect first glance".......will be interested to what others think...also thought second one looks very bulky/fat and cumbersome...but thats only my opinion which is only for me...:)

That's the very small Lithium battery causig the short range. Powabyke have one twice the capacity as well, though that wouldn't fit under the carrier of course.

The bikes actually look just like two eZee models, Torq I and Sprint except for not having the battery inside the frame. The step through frame curve the opposite way to the wheel curve is identical to the Sprint's.

I also thought the first bike looked just like a torq only with a much bigger motor,if powabyke can come up with reliable batteries and can price around £750 they could have a real winner here,at last a powabyke that i would not be ashamed to be seen on.

It possibly slides inside the rack and sitting just above the mudguard like the Heinzmann one Nigel. Li-ion cells are very thin and if in a row like the Schwinn bike had them in it's carrier, it would easily go in there. With that short range it's obviously a very small battery.

It looks quite big Nigel, and I'd hope they kept to their same high power good hill climbing formula.

Of course they may at last have decided to bring the motor up to date, and I think it would be a good idea if they made it a bit quieter. The old motor is very noisy now when compared with most of the competition.

Maybe that is the battery on the frame where often a water bottle is placed, hard to tell from the picture but that could be a small battery then again it could be my poor eyesight seeing things wrong.

It certainly could be Paul, since lithium cells can be any shape, and that could be a column of ten cylindrical cells. At that size it's doubtful it would cover 25 km (15.5 miles) with a motor of 400 watts peak output.

I favour that boxy shape of the carrier above the wheel, the top bit seeming to be a bit odd in relation to the rest, especially as the controller appears to be there as well.

I also can't help thinking prototype rather than finished product, a bit like the Diavelo and Schwinn episode, that also illustrated without a finished battery for a while, the battery in the carrier drawn in with Photoshop in many photos.

i remember Frank at Powabyke saying the new bikes would perform as the currently available models ie 20/34 miles which would suggest the existing batteries being used in some format on the bikes.

I remember that too, which would suggest carrier mounting, the larger capacity one having to go on top then. The motor is definitely different, with a lower wattage rating, and is virtually certain to be Hall effect and quieter.
