Took the bike into the dealer for repair, it was the connection by the front wheel, apparently it became welded together and caused an intermitent loss of power, it is a problem they have seen before with this bike. So it's all up an running again. Thanks for all your advice.

Thanks for the welcome, I ride 5 miles a day, one very steep hill, I charge the battery after every journey, I have checked wiring to see if anything was loose but looks ok.
