Hi Helen, Thanks for sharing you experiences with the Kathmandu, it's the bike I've had my eye on, seems to have really good spec for it's price. Did you find much loss of range when changing to the 500 battery?

I have sciatica and do a 30 mile round trip commute with an SDG Bel-Air saddle combined with the Suntour NCX seatpost, not expensive but very comfortable (for me anyway).

Just to update my thread, I opted for a Yose Power 350W/36v kit & 15Ah Hailong battery from ebay for a total cost of £342. Now fitted to my touring bike and initial test rides are very promising, definitely pleased with results on such a small budget. So much so, I can't wait to go to work on...

Just in case anyone is after any conversion parts or batteries, ebay have a 10% promotion currently that seems to include a lot of the Chinese sellers (Yose etc.)

I'm guessing kits can't be bought through a cyclesheme?
