    Comfortable saddle for long distance?

I fully sympathise with you, I have similar problems. One thing which helped me is installing a suntour spring loaded seat post not a total solution by itself but helps. I added a memory foam saddle and the situation is better, but not completely eliminated.

    Battery Fires

Of course I agree with the policy of buying reputable and feel that more should be done to close our market to disreputable. Re the cut off I am sure the cable wont warm up much i was actually considering that it be mounted on a small aluminium patch which would be brought into full contact with...

    Battery Fires

I'm not an expert but it seems the battery fires while charging are an accelerating runaway process. Would it be so hard to make a power lead with a thermal power cut off which could be strapped to the battery with velcro when on charge? Cut off point to be set at a safe level to try and arrest...

    Battery Fires

It is very annoying but I think the media have to shoulder the majority of the blame, we can't be sure what the real problem was could be a badly made battery or charger, may be a reputable make which has developed a fault and we need to be vigilant, or could be a battery being charged with the...

    Battery Fires

Saw the news this morning a house destroyed in Doncaster due to e bike battery charging. I'm very sorry for the people who's lives are destroyed in this way, but the news item came across as all batteries are bombs and we will all be killed. Just need a slow news period when Olympics are done...

Are Cheap Chinese Ebikes really that bad

I bought a carera crossfire ebike from halfords in 2017 which has had little use but is maintained and has never seen a wet road. This year I am reviving my interest and in January jumped in and bought a haibike on a special offer. So far my experience is that the halfords bike handles more...

Bosch power pack 400 rack mount hard to remove

The WD40 people also make a silicone spray which is good for plastic I picked up a small spray when I went into screwfix, it lasts a while and you don't need to use much. Good for the wheel spindle and pedal shafts on grandchildren's pedal car. Found this: Spray

Funnily enough I've got two, but when you own a land rover your garage somehow seems to fill up with tools

    Mobile tool kit

Just bought a crank drive this year but yet to size up all the fittings on the bike. My old carrera bike has a hub drive and it's tighten to 40nm so trying to shift that without the correct tools would potentially be a problem, also putting it back without tighten it up correctly could lead to...

    Mobile tool kit

Now that has me thinking about a project to make something similar. You are right about the allen keys being lighter and better, even if I put in some of my ball end Bacho ones weight would be low, need to look at the 15 - 10mm titanium spanner but not the alli express ones

Appreciate all the input, that wolf tool looks interesting While I've been sitting here on this wet afternoon I found this offer: Offer So I jumped in and ordered (looks like a decent price) now I need to pack up my mini saddle bag with the patches and other stuff. Going to spend some time...

    Mobile tool kit

Yes I can imagine that any type of tool like this has to be a compromise, but these days there are so many cheap Chinese immitations, it would be frustrating to buy someting which turned out to be made from solder and just makes things worse

Cheers looks like you travel pretty tooled up. I forgot to mention the tyre inflator I bought from aldi which uses CO2 bulbs. Spanners I have in plenty having previously worked in engineering for 49 years and even worse owned a land rover.

    Mobile tool kit

As a none regular biker I often find that when I need it stuff gets scattered to the winds, and the small all in one tool I bought with allen keys screwdriver and chain splitting tool has annoyingly taken to the hills. Having bought a new bike back in January I still have hopes of riding it...

    Bike Insurance

Seems this is quite an old thread here,. Just wondering if anyone could recommend a good value insurer in 2024 ? Plenty out there but as with all insurance it seems variable on price and reliability.
