Hey, another Sotonian :) I have been for one ride out the New Forest so far and it was great fun. My sister rode along with me, I had to wait on hills as she is using just pedal power. My Son complained that I never invited him along! We should definitely meet up for a ride one weekend, my...

Jon, be sure to post back when you do get around to fitting a rack. I for one am interested.

    New ebike rider

Well I have only had my bike a week and am in the same situation. My sister cycles a lot and got me to sign up with Strava to track my routes and rides, that is proving fun as well and one of my challenges now is to get the battery usage down as low as possible on daily commute.

    Complete Newbie to e-bikes.

I agree totally, in fact it is just what I did. I am a hulk of a person and am using the bike daily for a 6 mile commute, it will go most of the week without needing to be charged. Furthest I've ridden it is 27 miles and it still had plenty of juice left (2 of 4 bars). Bit hard to get a test...

    Need help

A colleague of mine has a Cyclotricity bike that he purchase last year I believe. It has a 1000W motor and a little "accelerator". I see that this bike is still available and there is a code to switch it into Uber mode for "off-road" use. Reminds me of years ago when 50cc mopeds were restricted...

Okay, your advice matches that given by other people that I know who cycle regularly. In just one week I am loving this bike, my anatomy is getting accustomed to it as well. I have clocked up some 180km now, went for a 50km ride around the New Forest on Sunday and it was my best day out this...

Halfords Carrera e-Bike now only £799.99

Excellent post. I am new to electric bikes, really new. I have been riding like a push bike, it came set on ?? and when I am riding I just use the gears to adjust. Now I am wondering how to mix power settings with gears. When does a lower gear beat more power for maximum distance - same true for...

Thanks Geebee. I would not call this a commute, but it is a start and I did enjoy. In another reply I commented about travelling through a park with joggers and dog walkers, so much more relaxed than the narrow road with too many cars. More effort, less stress.

All started so simple: get bike and ride to work. It's always the little things. I will heed your advice and spend some time looking into this before investing in the what-seems-obvious gel solution.

3 days a week minimum is the goal, just got to stick with it!

    Embarrassment

Okay, what is classes as a 'climb'? As I leave my house and turn left for work I have an uphill stretch that goes on for 2 miles. It's horrible to walk and horrible to cycle, but maybe that's just me. In reality the 2 miles only goes up about 80m. If I turn right I have the same vertical climb...

    Embarrassment

This morning I did feel like a new person, I loved every minute of the ride to work. Not having ridden an electric bike before I was surprised when I got past the 25kmh on the flat and the 'help' went away, but that's the learning curve. I was surprised at how easy that uphill 2 mile stretch was...

Right now, first day, its not the legs that are hurting. I think that the seat is made of concrete and I am going to go find out what gel seats are all about :|

Thanks for reply. I dont care who overtakes me either and the stats you have posted are similar to the reason it makes financial sense for me as much as the health benefit. My bike just cost me £800 from Halfords, £66 a month on their 0% finance. Three days a week cycling and it pays for itself...

That is a target I could never meet; family do not fit on the bike. Or maybe I have missed a trick here :).

    Embarrassment

I joined this forum because I wanted to pass on thanks to those people whose messages I found useful while looking for a pedelec. I am post 50, desk job, overweight and for the past few years a lazy git. The thought of cycling to the end of the road, 100m away, fills me with dread. I want to...

Halfords Carrera e-Bike now only £799.99

Check the scheme your company is using. I was in the process of obtaining this bike through company cycle to work scheme, however the 20% discount on offer by Halfords right now (July 2016) along with 0% finance option worked out a better option for me. No "pay RRP", no salary sacrifice, no...
