    Which ebike to choose?!

It depends what you want to do with the bike. For basic transport a triangle framed catalogue bike with disc brakes and 1 1/8" steerer suspension forks works extremely well. For longer commutes, say more than 10 miles each way, a bike with air suspension at both ends becomes increasingly more...

    Brake Sensors

With derailleur gears, shifting is not a problem when you use low power. It's when you use high power that you need something to stop crunching the gears and chain, or when you have to do an emergency stop and get caught stationary in top gear on any setting other than the lowest power ones. Hub...

Alternative mounting of mid drive motor

I will try and find the figures and post them. I am aware that I am blaming the TSDZ2 but the other factor is that I was riding further and often above the motor cutout speed. So my plan was to ride the original unassisted version over similar distances (forty five miles) to see if my knee...

Alternative mounting of mid drive motor

Hi @Simon Knight - going back to your original post I'm lucky enough to not have the type of knee problems that you have, but out of curiosity I'm wondering how much difference in Q factor is needed from that of the TSDZ2 to what ever the original trike chainset was, to cause you knee issues...

    yesterday i had 1 ebike now i have 4!

You can't run a 48v controller with a 36v battery unless it's specifically a dual voltage controller, which will be written on the label.

Alternative mounting of mid drive motor

Won't the chainwheel on the motor only freewheel in that case? How will it put force on the pedal shaft to operate the torque sensor? It might work if you were able to fit a normal chainwheel to the square taper if there's enough room. You might need to reverse your main crank and fit the cogs...

Review Tong Sheng TSDZ2 Owner Survey

I installed the TSDZ2B last week on a older 26" Giant RIncon. The unit went in fairly easy. One of the pedals was frozen into the old arm and couldn't be re-used. The chain stays hit one of the screws holding the motor cover. I filed down the boss for the screw to get full clearance. Also some...

Help! 1st E-Bike, need help choosing

The E MOVEMENT THUNDER V4.2 is a fat bike, 28kgs heavy to pedal if the power fails. Other than that, it looks like built with standard Chinese parts so repairs outside the warranty shouldn't be a problem. Battery is 48V 10AH, good enough for your short commute. The MULTITRACKS X1B is a similar...

    Cmacewheel GW20 P.A.S. Problem

On the pedal sensor connector there are three wires - red, black and another one that's the signal wire. Straighten two paperclips and put one end of one in the signal wire and one end of the other in the red one. With rhe wheel off the ground and everything switched on, rapidly tap the free...

    Cmacewheel GW20 P.A.S. Problem

Sorry!! Work issues meant I was busy with a lot of stuff . Pedal sensor appears 100%. Turning on the crank perfectly When I'm using the throttle. That's all I have, throttle. Let go of the throttle. And its leg power only. NO PEDAL ASSIST It's either a REALLY heavy regular bicycle, or an...

Which one for a getting on a bit bloke?

My limited experience is with a rear hub motor, hub motors just work. Mid drive motors require you to use the bikes gears. (which you should be doing anyway..) Due to driving the bike via the gears a mid drive can climb steeper hills, and theoretically reach faster speeds dictated by the gears...

    eBrompton Build

Getting rid of the spare cables and visible cable joins I had originally bought low rise carbon bars, but decided that leaning forward Manx Missile racing mode was not my riding style so bought some higher rise carbon bars (£30) which would provide a more upright riding position. The riser bars...

Has anyone heard of or tried Toseven mid drive?

Is it worth getting DM-01 currently or is it better to wait until ToSeven is available everywhere like TSDZ2 and Bafang? Was forced to cancel CYC Photon due to delays and go for more robust tried and tested BBSHD. Unfortunately BBSHD developed some intermittent cadence sensor fault so had no...

Please keep it simple, regarding what I need Thanks

Just a newbie myself with a single week old kit build to my name.. hollowtech cranks are actually hollow i think (i googled em before my own purchase) I dont think the 'standard' pas sensor will fit as your pic 1602 looks close to the red crossed crank pic from the suppliers site. However...

Help! Erratic controller behaviour - is it a programming issue?

I want to find out if the hub motor is acceptable for basic mtb use before considering whether to go for crank drive. I know crank drive is superior, but I only ride mtb occasionally and my skills are basic. Hub drive may be good enough for riding trails and the easier bits of single track at...
