90% of my ebike issue come from the wires

Yes on my kit the connection from the motor has these big heavy duty "pins" that go into sockets well insulated..but you have to really push them home snug. I think because my kit is on the handlebar on my bike and tends to move around a bit when I go over bumps and rough roads..it made the pin...

I think when it comes to applying the passing off law, Whisper has a good case and I'll explain why.. Firstly, the design of the frame has several characteristics which are a direct copy or very close copy of Whispers design (which may even be a patent infringement). This is obviously intended...

You should sell some to my local bobbies..I see the young WPC's out of breath pedalling around still on their unpowered bikes.. they have full size MTB's but have put some police stickers on them :D

Curious...is the Whisper 905 series a patented design? Or does it have patents on certain elements?

Yeah exactly, you can't stop what goes on China as Dave probably knows only too well, their lapse regulation and dubious ethical practices of many businesses means its every man for himself... but in the UK, the businesses which are importing these Whisper clones know full well this is unethical...

This reminds me of the situation I wrote on an essay on last year and discussed with flecc, about supermarkets abusing their power and control over the food retail marketplace by copycatting well known brand food items like snicker and mars bars. Tesco even copy the colours of the packaging and...

David can't you take legal action against these UK sellers who sell these bikes, as the frame is so clearly similar to the Whisper design it's hard to tell the difference to the untrained eye..and as you say, they're obviously cashing in on your brand reputation and investment... surely there's...

What a charming young lady they have modelling the Whisper-look-alike.. that skirt looks a bit riske for bicycle riding..not to mention those shoes ;-)

90% of my ebike issue come from the wires

My e-bike (self-build) has only ever failed on me on two occasions...and on both occasions it was a wire connection just coming loose from one of the sensors on the motor.. I have a little LCD panel for the controller and it flashed up a spanner symbol and ERR code indicating motor failure :D...

    Electric2011 Dahon Jetstream P8

I guess it's a wise safety precaution then! We're fortunate that law on ebike's is quite relaxed...as far as I know there's no specific legislation which states you need brake cut outs (someone correct me if I'm wrong here)...but I will definitely fit something now based on these comments...the...

    Electric2011 Dahon Jetstream P8

I've seen those slim inline brake switch things and put them on my "to buy" list..but this raises a question.. On my old kit installed on my 26" bike there's no brake cut out, the kit states it doesn't need any as the motor cuts out instantly (in less than a second) when you release the...

Computer & GPS Sat Nav mounted on Electric Bike

The mini stereo mic wins hands down in a comparison between lapel v stereo mic! Massive difference. Those stereo mics are fantastic and really good value at around £3.50 on eBay (delivered from China!).

He changed to bigger wheels with inflatable tyres for better rolling and stability. I wonder what he carries on that thing! Someone posted they want one to carry a guitar to gigs lol

    New Battery

I don't think I will worry too much then about the battery/carry weight on my next builds as there is always going to be a trade off as you say, between performance and carry weight.... if I were commuting by train I might look at sub-10Ah. For me 10Ah feels a good minimum Li-Ion battery, I can...

Computer & GPS Sat Nav mounted on Electric Bike

Update almost a year on... the Nokia n810's as beautiful a device as it is, makes for a lousy GPS SatNav device.. doesn't have enough power or just has a weak power signal...it frequently loses position, totally unreliable unless you're standing still.. ok to get coordinates in two places, but...

    New Battery

Ah. That's a non-starter then heh. I'll have another look and see if there's anything like that..I would only do it if there's a major weight advantage cuz these LiPo's make me a bit nervous and I'm not sure I can be doing with all this monitoring of the voltage under load and load balancing...

Finally bought a smaller folder for conversion...

Dave did you notice the other JetStream sell earlier too, in the gunmetal grey? That one made £411 with fierce bidding oddly, yet it looked in worse condition than the one I won. JetStream's seem to retain about 50% of their value second hand...about the same as Bromptons?

Full size bike is no longer a practical option for me as I have a bad knee which is not going to get better :( I live in a 2nd floor flat so I can only carry small bikes daily.. I suppose I could keep the 26" for occasional use but it takes up a lot of space in a tiny flat really.. it will fit...
