Finally bought a smaller folder for conversion...

Thanks very much for the links I will do some reading:) It's nice to know there's another Mezzo owner on here..I think that makes 3 of us! They're fantastic bikes. I keep admiring mine every time I walk past it :D I'm looking forward to doing a comparison to the JetStream. I think I will...

Finally bought a smaller folder for conversion...

I purchased a Mezzo smaller slot-on rack pack last week for my e-bike kit. £25 on eBay, much cheaper than anywhere else..bargain! On Tuesday my JetStream P8 arrives, so I'm hoping for good weather to take it out for a quick test ride. Will post an update after it arrives.. I'm still...

Making an insurance claim for a stolen bike

I'm with Legal & General and have a basic household contents (£5.88 a month) which does cover 1 bicycle away from home, up to £500 value. The policy says they will cover bikes worth more than that as valuable items at no extra cost, but only if it's of a specific make/model and the frame number...

Making an insurance claim for a stolen bike

You can normally only claim the purchase value of the bike (at the time the policy was taken out) unless you have notified the insurance company of a change in value, but like flecc and daveboy said, it depends a lot on the terms of the individual policy you have.. some policies will allow up to...

    E-Bikes, the cost case

Even if you had to replace the motor on your e-bike every 4 years say, considering how cheap motors are or complete kits, still a much cheaper option for all the miles you'd get, compared to the cost of changing the engine in a car..and there's no maintenance or service costs with e-bikes, cars...

    E-Bikes, the cost case

I would say an e-bike if properly looked after should last more than 3 years. Granted the battery will need replacing and tyres which are consumable items... but the bike itself should last many years and the motor presumably if the bike is used and stored properly... hair dryers..washing...

    vat free

Yeah I think you would have a hard time convincing them an e-bike or kit falls into the same category as a mobility vehicle..although it could of course.. plenty of people (myself even) cannot walk far with knee or hip problems and yet with an e-bike you can travel miles without pedalling..isn't...

Clearly something going on with China post ?

Gosh, sounds like a country on the edge and a government gripped by paranoia! I've been reading a lot lately of civil unrest across large areas of China and especially in Kong Hong where there is outright demonstrations and protests calling for independence..they're even holding up Union Jacks...

    What type of replacement tyre

I have the Matharan Plus road slicks on my 26" MTB as I wanted puncture resistance...they are a good choice if you want lower weight and better lower rolling resistance for speed on roads..but not so great if you're riding off-road, although saying that I have used a number of times on dirt...

Kinda free internet on the move...with strings

Nice one. GiffGaff is well worth checking out too if you use mobile internet and don't want to be tied into a contract.. for £10 a month top-up they give unlimited internet and texts to any network and unlimited calls anytime to other GiffGaff network users.. if someone else you need to call...

    Bike rides

I rode my 26" mostly to the sorting office and back which I guess is like a short commute...about 4-5 miles round-trip... but in the warmer months I like to use it more recreationally and go for long rides in the countryside or to different villages around here in Worcestershire...

how much longer tyre life ?

Interesting question.. since tyres are fairly cheap and probably the first thing to fail on a bike (and have the highest risk of accident/disruption to travel) I'd be inclined to change mine if they were showing significant signs of wear, or just already well worn if buying a used bike...

    vat free

I raised the issue of VAT on e-bikes and related stuff like batteries, on the grounds they're environmentally friendly and support the governments policy of reducing Co2 emissions.. I suggested that e-bike's and all related parts should be zero-rated/exempt for VAT or reduced to the lower 5%...

Computer & GPS Sat Nav mounted on Electric Bike

That Samsung mount looks very nice indeed. A lot better than the cheapo SatNav mount I got. I might even switch to one of those myself if I can find something suitable for the HTC. I know what you mean about the mirror alignment prob..I gave up on my mirror and ended up taking it off..just kept...

    Indicator lights

Thats a good idea having a horn too to replace the bell and free up some handlebar space.. it's often the way with Chinese stuff that you end up "hacking" it or using the basic parts/casing to build something better :-) I'm tempted to have a go at building my own indicator lights if I can find...

Finally bought a smaller folder for conversion...

I'm yearning to get back on the Mezzo but it's all wet and horrible outside. I think I actually enjoy riding that bike unpowered! Today I used the commuter bag to carry some packages to the post office just to see how suitable it would be... I was a bit disappointed it doesn't hold as much as I...

    Indicator lights

neat, look very bright in daylight. I guess that's the thing with bike indicators..the ones I posted can only be seen from behind...yours will be seen all round so if a car is coming alongside they know to give you room and back off if you're going to make a turn.

    Spot the difference...

I see your point and I'm all for cheaper bikes and more choice for consumers...but this comes to down to ethics.. try to put yourself in the position of Whisper and the individuals behind it who have put a chunk of their life into that business, invested loads of their own capital and took on...

    Indicator lights

Has anyone fitted indicator lights to their bike and if so can you recommend any? I spotted these cheap and cheerful ones on eBay... I wonder if they're bright enough to use in daytime or just for night use.. I suppose you could buy them and modify with higher power LEDs and run off your...
