Maximum safe charger a/h output for lithium-ion batteries ?

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I always thought the BMS controlled the charging of the cells and it doesn't really matter what rated charger you use (providing it can supply sufficient current of course and the right voltage)..the BMS will always regulate how much juice the batteries...

    Ebikes for £299 delivered

Blimey! How much cheaper can they go! That even beats the old Cyclamatic £399 price which was outstandingly cheap... wouldn't expect much for £300 quid or it to last long eh, but you never know the Cyclamatic turned out to be a robust and decent bike for the money.

USB charging outlet from ebike 36 volt battery

I'm no expert with electronics (just dabble a bit) but it seems to me this could be achieved quite easily using an inexpensive voltage inverter and a USB socket. It would cost a couple of quid to build something if you can solder.. you can pick up voltage inverters on eBay from China for that...

    CycleCharge Meeting, 4pm today

Excellent, I will add Ireland then! I'm not how we should go about this though, I'm not familiar with your geography/regions.. perhaps we should have "Ireland" for now and come back to that later, with your assistance/input?

Why don't we make bikes in the UK any more.

The government should do what it keeps saying, or what Vince Cable keeps saying, which is completely separate this speculative investment banking from the retail side. We shouldn't have to be exposed to the market risks banks are taking with OUR money.

I thought the AV8 was a joint venture between BAE and Boeing?

    Self-build videos

Has anyone ever made a video of their self-build, from start to finish? I've started making one for my Mezzo build as I thought it might be of interest to people who never done a self-build/conversion before and wondered what's involved. The only part I won't be able to show is the wheel build...

Why don't we make bikes in the UK any more.

The Germans are good at manufacturing all round aren't they? They have a strong manufacturing-base economy..from cars, to even houses! I've seen entire houses fabricated in Germany being transported to UK and assembled here BY GERMANS. How's that for manufacturing! Our government let us down...

    CycleCharge Meeting, 4pm today

We don't cover Ireland unfortunately Dave. Did you mean sign up as a Charge Point? We could certainly extend it to Ireland if you wanted to become a Charge Point though, I don't see no reason why not. I'm drinking some fine Irish cream liqueur right at this moment, so that's one very good reason...

Why don't we make bikes in the UK any more.

I reckon these high rates are needed due to central governments excessive and wasteful high levels of spending.. we know that's a reason why Council tax on residential properties is so high, probably a lot higher than it needs to be in some areas..because some of it goes to central government...

Why don't we make bikes in the UK any more.

Ya that's a fair comment Kudos, its unfair to suggest all Chinese factories are run the same on slave labour with poor quality control.. I think maybe the mega cheap consumer item manufacturers... the 99p bag of 100 clothing pegs...or the 50p AA battery holders and £5 mini-cameras etc you can...

Close Encounter with the (new model) GnG 36v. 250w mid-drive kit

I had a mishap y'day with testing my motor and didn't wire the motor fully to the controller, but old Dave helped me out.. I think finding your way, improvising and learning stuff even if you stumble a bit is part of the fun of self-building! This could get seriously addictive, I'm already...

Why don't we make bikes in the UK any more.

I think this hits the nail on the head.. it's a simple case of economics, supply and demand.. the UK could make e-bikes, if the demand was there, or at least at the prices they would need to sell at.. some small conversion builders do very well and make a decent living from it by all accounts...

Why don't we make bikes in the UK any more.

How much of the Brompton is actually made in the UK out of interest? I thought most of the bike was manufactured in Asia and the parts shipped to UK and just assembled here?

    CycleCharge Meeting, 4pm today

Great meeting, thanks to those who contributed! I've posted a quick summary of what was agreed and our plans for the next 6 months on the bottom of the meeting agenda page for those who couldn't attend the meeting or are interested in following the progress of the project. These meetings...

    CycleCharge Meeting, 4pm today

That's a very good idea Jazper, and no, it's never been thought of before! You're right, approaching orgs with a national infrastructure in place (particularly ones involved with transport) makes sense..once you get the org onboard, you potentially have all their places of business as new CP's...

    CycleCharge Meeting, 4pm today

Thanks Lyn, I put a link to a "wide screen" version of the chatroom at the bottom of the chatroom page on for people who may have smaller screen devices. I've also written a meeting agenda summarising the project position so far, and looking at some areas we might discuss further looking ahead...

    CycleCharge Meeting, 4pm today

Hi, I'd just like to draw attention to the post I made yesterday about the CycleCharge meeting planned for today. Perhaps some of you never saw it buried away on the CycleCharge thread! Anyway, the meeting is still on and Lynda (funkylyn) and myself will be there, and probably a few of our...

Finally bought a smaller folder for conversion...

Carefully matched the pins (first time I fitted one of those connectors, was a bit nervous and thought it would be a b*tch) they went in easily..pushed them home with a little jewellers screwdriver until they clicked... and then fired it up, this time with one end resting on desk and the other...
