    Grants for MS sufferers.

It doesn't! I think that's why e-bikes are so useful in our society, for people with severe disabilities who can travel around much easier and get exercise too. Also for the elderly and unfit..and even people with phobias etc who find it difficult to get out. So many benefits really across a...

    Commuter Light Deal

I nearly had such an encounter once when I rode on a pavement right in the town centre (something I always do in a quiet back street) but unlucky for me there happened to be a plod just nearby who looked very bored and wanting to get busy nicking someone. So he clocked me on the path and his...

    Commuter Light Deal

The last thing you need is Mr Plod pulling you over and saying "now what have we here then! Got your approval certificate and registration docs on you, Sir?"

What would be your ultimate spec ebike, money no object

Speaking of modular power.. remember that bike manufacturer a while back that had the "stacking" batteries on the rack? I wonder what happened to that? It was a nice concept, but due to the large weight of the batteries and taking up the rack space, not very practical in practice..

What would be your ultimate spec ebike, money no object

It's probably never going to be possible for any one manufacturer or bike builder to come up with the ultimate e-bike. I bet as this thread will show, people have very different ideas about what makes a good e-bike (even different tastes on bicycle itself) and very different needs from their...

    A pedelec without a charger

I remember trying someone's racer bike that had a dynamo fitted to power the lights, back in the day, and I remember thinking it felt awkward to ride, like a drag and extra effort required, also the high pitch whining mosquito noise. But it was fun to see the lights come on in the dark without...

What would be your ultimate spec ebike, money no object

I think shortly I will have close to my ultimate bike in the shape of the Mezzo with ultra lightweight portability yet good power and discrete non-electric looking appearance. It ticks all the boxes for me, but the proof will be in the end result. I think the ideal bike should have 16" wheels...

Finally bought a smaller folder for conversion...

I've just sold my Dahon JetStream P8. It's a nice bike, but I've decided it just doesn't offer me a great deal more than my Mezzo and so it doesn't make any sense really keeping two small wheel folders or spending more money to convert it.

Reached the limit of my brompton..

Yeah sometimes the individual parts of high value items are worth more than the sum total in a broken state.. it might be worth dismantling and selling off the parts on eBay and then using the money towards a newer bike if welding doesn't do it.

    Cheap Brompton Conversion Kit?

That's more like it! Shame about the weight though, else I'd probably get one.. Alan the motor is here (it's actually a 350W motor) and I'm about to give it some tests this weekend.. still waiting on the freewheel, I think that could take quite a wee while from China!! I've had notice it was...

Ebikes versus normal bikes for commuting

With an electric bike I think it's a prerequisite to fit puncture resistant tyres to minimise the risk of having punctures.. for the small cost it's well worth doing and it gives you great peace of mind, especially if you're riding a long way from home or in remote places where getting...

    I LOVE crusie control!

Nice, but a strange choice given the heavy weight? Or perhaps weight is lower down on your priorities on this one? Why did you choose that specific motor? For my Mezzo build weight is the top priority, there's probably lighter bikes I could have chosen, (but not in my budget) and although you...

What is in that subconscious mind of yours?

Yeah Malvern is without doubt the most severe for hills (more like mountains!), Elgar used to cycle them apparently!..Redditch doesn't compare to Malvern.. but for a regular town, Redditch has some pretty bad hills for cyclists still compared to other relative flatter parts of country.

What is in that subconscious mind of yours?

We're pretty close then, have you been to Redditch? It's a town in a valley basically..where I used to live was Churchill which has one of the steepest hills up to neighbouring Beoley village (hence the name)... going down that hill is crazy and very dangerous as it leads right onto a very busy...

    I LOVE crusie control!

That sounds like my ideal bike! It's basically everything I think makes the perfect e-bike and what an e-bike should be like! I tried to achieve that with my 26" folder (the front wheel motor was obviously a terrible choice in hindsight, but was done for simplicity on my first build) and came...

What is in that subconscious mind of yours?

I never found a hill I can't climb yet on my 26" 250W 36V10Ah and we have some INSANE hills in my town. Even on the steepest hills (which even have me out of breath just WALKING up) the bike will make an impressive start then crawl up the last bit on throttle-only :D When I had a 5Ah battery...

Final limit at 250 watts EU ruling

The coalition gov started off the right footing I think when they came to power, they cooled off from USA/EU and went off to developing economies like China, India and Brazil, looking to establish better trade arrangements. That's where the real trade opportunities and future growth lies.. I...

    I LOVE crusie control!

Thanks Dave, I knew someone would know the KU63! Do you know if the cruise control feature can be controlled by the speedict at all? I'm also curious..how did you devise your own cruise control..by modifying the throttle like others have suggested, taking the spring out? Or some different...

    350W BMS Battery legality problem

I'm going to power up this 350W motor tomorrow from 36V10Ah so let's see what that baby sounds like. I will film it of course :) I won't be riding it though its not in a wheel yet. I want to also test out the cruise control feature on this KU63 controller to see if it behaves like Jerry...
