Thanks NRG, I'll have a trawl and see what I can find... Ordered a couple of the Mirrycle's earlier, reading this forum costs me too much..!

Knocked off my bike this morning- Write off?? Advice?? Fault??

Very sorry to hear about your accident Pinbin, and glad you appear to have been v.lucky and not badly injured bearing in mind the circumstances. I see you've been given lots of advice so I'll stick with the trend by suggesting you should get yourself checked out at you local A&E outside your GPs...

    Which bike to convert?

I don't think you can go wrong with a Bafang motor from what I gather, at least bang for buck wise. If I hadn't got the eZee kit I was going to go for a 350W front BPM kit and likely a Ping 15ah. If you don't mind waiting a bit for delivery, paying extra on VAT/duty and long distance email...

    Which bike to convert?

Good luck with finding the right bike and kit. I've just finished my conversion after lots of research, mostly asking questions and listening to the experienced members on this forum. I went for John's eZee kit in the end, which although over my initial budget for a kit, ticked all the boxes...

Advice on a DIY conversion please..

So I took yesterday off and once John's eZee kit turned up in the afternoon, after checking all the contents survived shipping ok I got started on it. The main issue was where to fix the controller, as the space between the seatpost and back of the rack was a bit tight. Anyway to cut a long...

Advice on a DIY conversion please..

Quick update to confirm that I've been speaking to John and reading more on the eZee kits and have finally pushed the button and ordered a front wheel kit from him today, to be delivered Monday. Despite John's sale it was still over what I had originally planned to spend but for the quality and...

Advice on a DIY conversion please..

So I'm now the proud owner of a Giant Expression, collected last Thurs and have been using it on my commute this week. Even after such a short time riding it I know I've made the right choice and after tweaking the setup over the past couple of days its a very comfortable bike to ride and ripe...

    8fun kit performance

Thanks Dave. Just looked up Ping's postage - $95 ouch ! - probably similar for a BMS kit I'd guess. Still the cheapest way to put a decent kit together though and I can see why so many people on here use them.

    8fun kit performance

I'd be very interested to know how much extra you get charged in total duty/vat and fees on top of BMS and Pings normal prices (oh and postage cost as well..), as I'm looking to get a kit from BMS and the same battery from Ping myself..

    How Many Bikes Poll

I now have 3 and my wife has 2. Most recent purchase and collected last week is a new Giant Expression which I'm trying out this week on my commute, loving the comfort/riding position and have decided will be fitted with an electric kit asap. I'll be updating my separate thread on this soon. My...

Advice on a DIY conversion please..

Thanks for the link John. I suppose they don't see dropout clearance as a deciding factor when it comes to selling forks, which unless you are looking to convert a bike isn't that relevant I suppose... Wiggle are collecting the Giant on Monday and we'll be happy to get our hallway back in time...

Advice on a DIY conversion please..

Yes it's a 28" wheel Bob. While I prefer disc brakes it ticks most other boxes and makes the fitting of a brake cut-off switch easier. I'll try and find some specs online for drop-out clearances if/before I buy it, maybe on fork manufacturers website, its an RST SOFI 50mm.

Advice on a DIY conversion please..

Wiggle have a 7 day returns policy, legally required for distance sellers I believe, but I'll have to pay £20 to return - you pays your money and takes your chance I suppose.. Your kits are still a bit above my budget John and although your Rayleigh is a good price and looks same spec as the...

Advice on a DIY conversion please..

Quick update... Unfortunately I think I'm going to have to return the Giant Roam. I wasn't able to find one of these in stock to try at any LBS so took a punt ordering online as Wiggle were selling them less than half price. I ordered a large as I was inbetween M or L frame sizes but the...

Advice on a DIY conversion please..

Thanks chaps. Think I'm preferring Dave's solution as well Bob due to cost, although using the Juicy kit I suppose I'd get a few quid back on ebay for my old hydraulic brake set if I did a complete swap out... Well my new Giant's been delivered today according to my wife so I'll need to try that...

Advice on a DIY conversion please..

Thanks again for the advice and suggestions. I like the look of the Ezee kits John (especially their 'off-road' potential..!) but it would be pushing the budget a bit even at sale prices. I've spoken to Bob about Juicy's kit but their hub doesn't take a front disc rotor so 'v' brakes only with...
