    For my next stupid trick.

Thanks for that Dave, you are without a doubt, "The finest man that ever lived" I did misread your reply at the first reading. I thought you meant the meter was duff. The battery I removed had a "Best if installed before date" of 2003. So hadn't lasted long at all:). Cheers Steve

    For my next stupid trick.

I have quite cleverly generated a large spark, I have a 36v HL battery with push in connectors inside the metal casing at the end of the carrier. The carrier was not connected to anything. I slid the battery onto the carrier & hey presto a large flash on removing the battery & the cover on the...

    BBS in fsr Stumpjumper.

I have now tried the HL battery in the medium frame I was thinking of buying, it was just too big. Maybe a side release battery would fit. A pity, as it is a lovely frame. Steve

    BBS in fsr Stumpjumper.

Have any of you seen, or even better, built a BBS motor into a Fsr Stumpjumper & if so did the S shaped downtube cause the motor to sit too low? Also was there any problem with the gear case or chain wheel fouling the chain stay? Steve

Minimum stem engagement on alloy steerer?

Thanks for that SW. I am now mulling over buying a used Fox Float 100mm fork with a longer steerer, for £150. Or putting the BBS02 into a Whyte 605 that is gathering dust in my kitchen. My indecision is final!. Steve.

Minimum stem engagement on alloy steerer?

Hi Dave. Do you know what make & model the 30mm high stems are?. I have done the rounds of the lbs's & the only stem under 40mm I came across was a Deda Newton lightweight road stem which was 37mm tall & too frail looking for offroad. Steve

Minimum stem engagement on alloy steerer?

I know that it is recommended to have the top of the steerer tube about 5mm below the top of the stem, but I have just swapped a fork from another bike & the best I can get is 13mm. This leaves 27mm of the steerer gripped by the stem. Any thoughts on the safety or otherwise of this setup?. Steve

battery too big to fit in triangle.

I have just bought an, as new Norco Charger 7 with a 17 inch frame. I intend to fit a BBS02 motor, my battery is a Woosh 15 ah HL. It is simply too big to fit inside the frame triangle. Would it be practicable to fit the battery upside down under the downtube. Both the rack & the bottom of the...

10 speed mech with 8 speed cassette.

Will a 10 speed XT mech work with an 8 speed cassette & shifter? I believe 8 speed & 9 speed are interchangeable but I don't know if a10 speed mech requires a different amount of cable pull. Steve.

    Alfine hub with BBS02?

What rim is that Tommie? The Taylor Wheels blurb says "eyeletted" that one doesn't seem to have eyelets. Steve

    Alfine hub with BBS02?

Thanks for that Tommie. I hadn't seen that article before. By the way, how long was delivery from Taylor Wheels? Cheers Steve.

    Alfine hub with BBS02?

I am building a BBS02 36v 500w motor into a hardtail Kona frame. At the moment I am running a 36 tooth Precialps Chainwheel at the front & an 8 speed11 to 30 cassette & a old style (but as new) 8 speed XT mech. Chain line is not good, the chain wheel is in line with 7th gear. The rear wheel...

How long should a chain last on a E-MTB

When I was a cyclist. I ran 3 chains in rotation, I would run one chain for a week, clean the bike, fit chain 2. Next week, clean bike & fit chain 3 & so on. This also greatly extended the life of the chain rings & cassette.

    Cadence computer wired or wireless?

I want to add a computer with cadence readout to a BBS02 powered bike. The cadence sensor will obviously be very close to the motor, would the magnetic field of the motor be likely to affect the readings of a wireless sensor. Cateye make a wired "Strada" model which has reasonable reviews on...

    Routing cables inside frame.

I have built a BBS02b into a Kona Lanai hardtail frame. I would like to lose the excess cables inside the downtube but the length of the cable connecters means that to get the angle to insert them inside the tube I will need to drill two 20mm holes. The tube is quite beefy. I have already...

    Snatchy BBS02 500

Thanks for the advice. I would like to reprogram it but I'm a total numpty with a computer. I am based in Burnley. Is there anyone within a 50 or 60 mile radius with the equipment & experience to do the job if I brought the bike to you & crossed your palm with plastic £5 notes...

    Snatchy BBS02 500

I haven't made any adjustments yet, I will set it to 9 power levels & see if that makes any difference. As it is now I don't think chains are going to last very long. Steve
