    Free power

Like all good magic, the trick is to fool you in the first second or so. The arms holding the wheel are set at an extraordinary angle, so that must be to distract us. We are treated to the classical magicians method of showing us around the device, but not inside. The arms of the support are...

    Another ebike battery explodes

Scared myself silly, then realised that my phone battery is lithium, my two vapes are 18650 cells, my car remote door lock, my watch, my hearing aids. We're DOOMED I tell ye.

For those who believe in Miracles a Self Charging Ebike

Well the only way the lights can work is if they are taking energy out of the spinning wheel. That means that the wheel cannot spin as freely or as long as if there was no dynamo attached. Bike lights hardly take any electricity. But to recharge an ebike battery will take a lot.

I still have one of those Dynohubs, stripped from a wheel, just tried turning it. The 'cogging' effect as the magnets pass the poles is noticeable.

For those who believe in Miracles a Self Charging Ebike

That is the whole point. The little bottle dynamo hardly made any electricity at all, but you could notice the effect on pedalling when using it. You cannot get out any more than you put in. To climb a hill, you will have to put all the climbing energy in when pedalling on the flat before the...

DLR.de developed fuel cell for e-cargo

I thought that burning hydrogen in air only produced water? I am not trolling, just not fully cognisant of all the science.

DLR.de developed fuel cell for e-cargo

I think that improvements in battery technology are nearing their end. There is no holy grail, the chemistry is known and the theoretical possibilities are rather limited. Efficient fuel cells offer a way forward, but the question must be asked, why a fuel cell? Why not just burn the hydrogen in...

Why does every eBike seem to advertise a 20-30 mile range?

Some years ago I rode back and fore along the Swansea cycle path which is flat. There was not any wind. I did not pedal at all. I got 17 miles from a 360 watt/H battery

    Electric Planes

Flecc, UK politicians seem far more interested in the problems of and helping foreign countries rather than our own. As it is, with so much immigration, there will not be sufficient room for extra high speed railways. I have to say that the theoretical possibility of going to my own Railway...

    Electric Planes

Some time ago now I heard a radio programme that suggested that because of airport congestion, internal national flights might become a thing of the past, followed by international flights so that eventually only intercontinental flights would be possible because of the crowded airspace...

Guardian article on bike helmets - good read

I claim to have invented the spike when I sent a cartoon in the 1980's to 'Biz' They did not publish it, but it was called the Mike Spike.

What you need is third world flat foot pedalling, lock the heel of your shoe against the pedal. Clever fellers those Chinese!
