    BMW Active Hybrid e-bike 2017/2018

Front mudguard is far too short, the motor will receive a steady spray in wet weather. Rear mudguard has only one support.

Interview with Wai Won Ching, founder of eZee Bike

That was the most sensible article that I have read. And like 18-19 years ago I saw the ebikes, they were designed by the geeks at university, and they designed the bike for their own ego, not for the user. So true. Batteries built into frames and effectively irreplaceable when worn out. WWC...

How long do you expect an ebike to last before needing replacement?

Exactly what 'tech' moves on? Serious question because as far as I can see, controllers seem to answer the needs, motors are 19th century tech and it is just batteries that keep improving, but is a 2018 battery all that better than a 2012 battery?

How long do you expect an ebike to last before needing replacement?

1 Just put a new motor on my 2011 TONARO. Total cost £300 and the bike is as good as new. Have changed gears, chains and brake pads along the way. 2 My 2012 Woosh Gale folder has just had a new battery. This bike has not had a lot of use because it is mainly kept in my campervan. but other than...

    Really nice home-built electric bike

This retro Harley look is just what might persuade youngsters to want something similar, but not at the Dutch price. Looking at youtubes of Dutch school kids, some of them have ebikes and I just wish that out lead brained MPs could get some sort of realistic vision. I am fed up to the back teeth...

    Pannier bags for Big Bear

These bags are more like boxes. Mine are just tied together and slung over the carrier, trapped with the rat trap and there you are, I do not have a proper pannier frame (No side legs, see TONARO) but they just sit there not moving. The D ring seems plenty strong enough if you use it.

    Pannier bags for Big Bear

I have just bought a set of the OPs panniers, they are excellent, so I ordered another set for my other bike. AND At last, I have found a use for the rat trap

Do you let friends have a go?

I let the Police Superintendent of a certain European city try my bike. He loved it. I didn't have the heart to explain to him that in his country, he couldn't have a throttle!

    Brake advice, please help

Why are you talking about callipers when the ebay thing refers to disc brakes?

    The 'cycling though treacle' effect

As you have regenerative braking it sounds as though you have to turn the motor over when pedalling. My Tonaro crank driver broke when I was on holiday in Belgium but I was able to still use the bike because the engine is de coupled from the drive.

battery stuck on bike, any suggestions ?

No idea, take it along and ask for an estimate. Bear in mind Locksmiths will be security conscious and you will have to prove ownership etc, a lock damaged as you describe will raise suspicions.

battery stuck on bike, any suggestions ?

There are ways (destructive) to open these locks but I am not going to reveal it on the internet. You need a locksmith.

    Worth watching

Josephine Baker doing her banana dance, Fred Astaire with the 'shoes', I am trying to place the band conductor. Later in the film, incredibly fat Americans with a wheel to hold up their bellies. The film had huge influence, for instance these Americans singing in French.

Waterproofing bike wire to avoid the walk of shame

I find a blob of thick grease better than silicon which will eventually let go of plastic. Grease is also self repairing.

    Faulty eCarrera Crossfire

Sometimes I feel grateful for the simplicity of my TONARO. It doesn't have any display, just an on/off switch.
