Not at all wise. It's no good being in the right if you end up dead right.

bike without single point of failure

Have you any idea why the link failed? I note that this was not a case of an actual chain 'breaking' merely the connector becoming undone, and as the bike was second hand, you have no idea if the connector had not been fitted correctly in the first place. I totally agree about the full throttle...

bike without single point of failure

What they do not say anything about is wear. All those little rollers will be vulnerable. Personally. although a good try, I have many reservations about the basic design. The early idea (which is not new, remember DAF cars with continuously variable transmission?) obviously ran into problems...

My other peeves are 'Should of' and 'loosing' when they mean losing.

bike without single point of failure

In the past 70 years I have had two chains 'break' Neither actually broke, all that happened was that the connector became undone. The first was when I was 8 years old. The old type sliding locking clip came off and the fish plate fell away. Luckily an older girl was there and we hunted about on...

Sounds good, but the sting in the tail will probably be the price.

    Bafang Rear Hub Motor Questions

One question I have is, do you have to solder up the shunt leg from the pad of solder at its foot, or can you just solder along the top of the shunt?

    Electric bikes discredited

I don't know if it is purely a British thing, but in the UK, bikes are seen as exercise machines not just handy transport. To the lycra you are somehow cheating. If you rode passed on an old fashioned noisy, vibrating motorised bike, they would view it as some sort of cheap motor bike not...

    E folders under a grand?

I think it best to ensure that the battery is easily removable. This is useful for recharging in some places. Also, the case can easily be re-celled. Unfortunately, WOOSH do not show any photos of the Rambletta battery being removed so best check with them first.

    E folders under a grand?

I would go for the Rambletta from WOOSH bikes they are a well known, tried and trusted firm who regularly post on this forum. You get suspension as well . https://wooshbikes.co.uk/?rambletta

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I would dispute that the Nightingales were a waste. In the early days there was much criticism of a lack of equipment etc. Nobody could predict exactly how virulent the infection would be. Better safe than sorry. Also it has been good practice in case of future pandemics. One benefit of the lock...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Technically, I think that in Europe, 1,000,000,000 is a milliard, so 10 milliards. In the USA its different and I know that our MP's prefer USA figures when it is to their advantage and EU figures when it is to their disadvantage

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The only downside to your proposal of 'get it over quick' was the possibility of the NHS getting overwhelmed by cases. However, once the Nightingale hospitals were built, we probably could have relaxed some restrictions.

    Mid motor geers slipping

Can you clarify what you mean by 'slipping' Does it do it in all gears or just the smallest cogs at the back? Old cogs and chains, although looking fine are subject to chain skip, where the chain actually skids over the top of the teeth on the rear cog, particularly an 11 toothed cog. Generally...

    Stem extender

Short of hiring a metallurgist with laboratory at huge cost, just to determine the degree of tempering, we will never know. The replacement has arrived and is working fine. However, because of the design of these extenders I would caution anyone fitting one to fully tighten the top screw first...
