Hi Just checked mine and the positive is on the opposite side to the key but I think if I were in your position I would be checking the terminals on the bike just to be sure.

The discharge cable/connector supplied was exactly the same as the one on the bike and didn't require any adaptation. The battery would have fitted straight on to the original but having to check the polarity (I believe it is not always wise to accept the positive and negative marks) it is easy...

As a ps I notice in the few days since I bought mine the price has increased somewhat.

As you say the new model is very similar but it is as you say a good solid bike so why change what isn't broken. The controller and display certainly were working fine but if it becomes an issue then the price of KT replacements would be perfectly palatable to keep it running.

Thank you for your comments Nealh I am surprised by the lack of interest I thought it was something of a bargain too. I have put the chain back on the front ring and the bike is functioning well without power on the flat.
