I’d probably for starters consider the same number of teeth as your largest chainwheel. You'll have the assistance of the motor to counter the higher gearing. The clearance should be ok as the motor will push it out to kinda the same position it is in now.

How many teeth do the existing chain wheels have? I did a spreadsheet for mine to work out the speed in each gear based on the rpm of the chain wheel. i geared mine for a max of 40mph flat out, I’ve software limited it to 25 so the top gears are a kind of low rpm/overdrive though. mine has 29...

Why dont you just buy a brand new e-road bike? Decathlon have some for £1099. I think this might suit you better than conversions. How did you manage to sell your BBSHD bike, I thought it had 'issues' ?

I contacted the manufacturer of the TDSZ2 in March to ask for engineering drawings and they told me there is a replacement/new model ready to launch. It was due for launch in April but has been delayed due to covid.

Thats a pretty minor issue, can easily route the cables externally or drill a new hole in the frame if need be.
