    Hall sensor connection

Custom parameter C2 adjusts the motor phase angle & timing. You should try making incremental changes to this setting, starting at '0', each time increasing the value by 1 and seeing the effect this has on motor operation. PLEASE NOTE: The C2 parameter only takes effect after a power cycle of...

    Hall sensor connection

Disconnect everything from the controller except for the battery, motor and display, then try powering the motor using the walk-assist function - you can do so by holding the [DOWN] button on the LCD display. Let us know what happens.

    Hall sensor connection

'Error 03' refers to an issue with a number of your motor's hall sensor signals. Before doing anything else, you should carry out the following multimeter test in order to confirm the status of your motor's hall-effect sensors: https://www.ebikes.ca/documents/HallSensorTestingFinal.pdf Please...

The following thread on Endless Sphere is the best source of information on the subject: https://endless-sphere.com/sphere/threads/definitive-tests-on-the-heating-and-cooling-of-hub-motors.48753/#p1095860 TL;DR - Ferrofluid is extremely effective on direct drive outrunner motors. Other motor...

Comment on another sad e-scooter death

No, I can't, but that doesn't make MBFC incorrect. If you'd rather trust climate change denial and fake news outlets, that's your lookout. We all know how much of the right-biased media function - throw enough sh*t in the hope of some of it sticking. Lies halfway round the world by breakfast...

No, just follow the money. Transparrently funded news sources > opaquely funded news sources.

Comment on another sad e-scooter death

Oh, the irony! Your sources are WorldNetDaily; a far-right 'fake news' website, and Climate Change Dispatch; a right-wing 'climate change denial' forum. I actually rate Politifact quite highly, but note you didn't include any sources from them to back up your claim. I couldn't personally find...

Comment on another sad e-scooter death

Hmmm, Free West Media. A right-wing biased, opaquely funded, pro-conspiracy 'news' agency, with a history of making (provenly) false claims. I would select my sources more wisely... https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/free-west-media/

    KT LCD3 Problem

Are you sure that the LCD is reporting the correct speed? Most direct drive motors contain 23 magnet pole pairs. Assuming that yours does too, you should set the following custom parameters for an accurate speed reading: P1=46 P2=0

    KT LCD3 Problem

Have you confirmed that there is no speed limit set on the LCD display? The behaviour that you describe is exactly how an electric motor should behave - power peaks at standstill and tapers off to zero as you reach your motor's 'unloaded' speed. Around 2000W of power at the wheel is required...

Grant Shapps wants a speed limit for cyclists

We really shouldn't give this sort of nonsense the time of day. The only reason this has made the headlines again is to distract attention from the following leaked recording that has surfaced today (the real story is the comment at the 1:15 mark):

Help! Ebike battery voltage or controller issue?

Your battery is the issue, not the controller. A 48V nominal battery should read ~54.6V when fully charged. Less than 54V indicates a potential problem. Have you left your battery on charge for at least 24 hours to let the BMS balance the pack sufficiently since building it? If not, do so...

    Hub Motor and Wheel Size/Diameter

Any given motor will have a naturally occurring RPM limit (no load speed) that is dictated by both its specific motor winding and the operating voltage. The only ways to increase this RPM limit are by either increasing the operating voltage, or changing the winding of the motor. Controller...

    Help on controller

Hi Gerald I was thinking of you this morning and that I hadn’t heard from you in the last few days and then ‘up you popped’ in this thread. I am thoroughly disappointed to read that the replacement controller I sent you hasn’t made any difference to your issue. I am confident that the...

    connector help

There's a good chance that your hall sensors are okay and that your meter is averaging ~3v due to a slow refresh rate. There will probably be 46 hall sensor pulses per wheel revolution, so be sure to turn your motor VERY SLOWLY while measuring.
