Cytronex motor...resistance when turned backwards ..there is none

I have found the Tongxin motors ok providing you treat them with some care i.e. no powering up before starting to pedal or expecting it to pull you up hills with no effort on your part. I would admit they they seem to me more reliable in small wheels, at least that has been my experience. In...

E- Brompton Coming Soon - Reminder

I love how all these companies talk about adding assistance as if they are the first ones to do it or even invent it lol Same on TV. I watched an episode of poshpawn (you can tell I am retired) the other day, as a guy was trying fund a project to build/sell electric bikes. It spoke of him as...

Cytronex motor...resistance when turned backwards ..there is none

If you want the same motor they will cost between £100-£130 direct from China, dependant on postage and duty tax. The exisiting motor should have markings on it but my guess would be 36v, 175RPM or maybe190RPM if you want a faster wheel. Again not sure if you need a 36 or 32 hole motor...

Another little gem on ES Forum.

Sometimes we wonder about Chinese and other oriental post but my parcel sat in the UK sorting office from 8/8/17 to today 16/8/17 before it was finally handed to the Korea postal service. That was after I chased them by phone and email to find out what was happening! On the up side Lee...

Cytronex motor...resistance when turned backwards ..there is none

Sounds like the ring is cracked to me and the rollers are just spinning without any traction on the ring. That would explain why it is so easy to spin either way and if the motor is not turning why their is no voltage generated. You could open it up (you will need to make a tool to get the side...

Cytronex motor...resistance when turned backwards ..there is none

I use Tongxin motors (used on the Cytronex conversions/kits) and no restistance as it uses smooth roller bearings not nylon gears. Usually a little bit of resistance when you turn them backwards though. The system is complicated (I just use a bog standard controller and thumb throttle) though I...

    Best tyres for Carrera Crossfire-E?

The majority of punctures are in the rear wheel. At least that has always been my experience. MP tyres pretty much guarantee puncture free riding/commuting. Again in my experience I avarage about a puncture every two or three years using these, though having said that I then often get two in a...

lacing a motor hub, spokes and watch outs

I agree with Dave, if a wheel needs dishing I tend to do it by eye in a frame (centering the mudguard/brake centre hole in the frame with the centre of the rim) before I then take it out and do the final tightening up back in the stand. I do have a cheaper ParkTools tension guage, but usually...

A new take on the humble tyre lever

I only ever use a tyre lever to remove them as using them to fit tyres can easily damage the tube. When fitting, if you work the beads into the centre of the rim well both sides then it gives sufficient slack to get it over the rim edge at the end. You also need to not inflate the tube too much...

Lol o_O What I love my iPhone! Strava is available for it. I am all iOS with my Macbook and 27" iMac with its lovely retina screen! Used Windows for years building it every 12 months as it got full of virus, spyware etc and slowed to a snails pace. Had a Android phone for a year or two and...

lacing a motor hub, spokes and watch outs

Building it yourself/having it built you can choose rim and spokes in this case both being black to match the hub. This is my recent rear wheel build. As stated for front X1 or X2 should be fine though again as stated being a 26" rim, the resulting nipple angle may be better X1. This build...

    DIY Conversion - Voodoo Marasa

Dave I meant the size/prominence of the unit, not the mount lol Now I know the amps/watts being drawn dont really need the large screen. My removable GPS trip meter (Garmin Edge) will suffice.
