    battery recommendations

The continuous current is normally limited by the BMS, so a 48v 17Ah battery is fine, but the BMS needs to be able to supply a minimum 30amps continuous ideally 35amps to match or exceed the max. draw from your controller. This info is often missing from the ads of cheap batteries, so asking the...

    is it legit?

These packs have now made it onto Ebay. They could prove to be very dangerous if they have no BMS fitted. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lithium-48V-36AH-Ebike-battery-pack-100w-hgh-power-charger-new/353136397671?hash=item523891cd67:g:7rYAAOSwGphfCa~s

    Tenovating a Trike..

Give us a rough location, someone on here may be able to offer you some hands on help. Otherwise get yourself a digital multimeter if you've not got one. The wiring is not as complex as it first looks. Replacement controller is not a problem.

    Convert to manual bike?

You should be able to find a replacement battery for around £200. A photo of your bike/battery will help.

    MTB old school conversion

The pivot looks OK to me, slightly concerned about the width of the webing on the linkage if it's the same as this frame.

    MTB old school conversion

Judging from your photos, as long as your BB is 67mm you should be OK. As your BBS is on route to you, there's not alot to do but wait and see. When you see the dustbin lid chainwheel Bafang send you I hope you see the need for a 42T Bling Ring to match your very cool looking bike. :)

    5 wire throttle

I meant a test meter so you can tell which wires to connect together. You may then be able to get the throttle in your last thread working. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DIGITAL-MULTIMETER-VOLT-AMP-METER-ELECTRICAL-TESTER-WITH-PROBES-BATTERY-CASE/173916087546?hash=item287e34e4fa:g:IY8AAOSwyqBc7Nyc

Replace the gear cassette on an e-Bike?

If you get the DNP one in vfr's post #5 it will fit ALL freewheels. You need the extra length to remove the DNP freewheel. Park Tool FR-1.3 also fits.

I'm not sure what your concern is? Neither one is wrong if they are both working as they should.

Bbs01 arrived and fitted, a question...

Not all batteries have on/off switches, the button on yours sounds like it just shows remaining battery level. Most chargers show green light when plugged into mains, red light when battery is connected and charging and green light again when battery charging is complete.

Budget front wheel 26" conversion kit recommendations

You are not going to get a very positive experience of owning and riding an ebike if you buy the cheapest kit you can find. Those kits you linked to will end up costing you around £350-400 when you have paid postage, duty and VAT. As vfr has said, you need a kit to match your level of fitness...
