Help! Replaced the controller and now the hub motor is making an odd noise

We have the background now. Forget about anything that has been said before and tell us what your problem is. Pleas give plenty of details about it. Describe the sound, how it happens and when it doesn't happen. Which LCD do you have?

The Wisper Clinic - Our commitment to our customers old and new.

That symptom means that you have a short between motor phase wires. Normally, that would be blown mosfets in the controller or the wires have melted where they come out of the controller. A damaged motor cable can also cause it. If you dropped the bike or were clumsy with it and bashed the...

Awaiting approval before being displayed publicly ?

Wait for approval? Bloody annoying, I know. I guess there must be a rule about posting links when you're new. maybe admin is on holiday or worst still jailed by the hate police for allowing people to post links their local church. If you want to move forward with your problem, you could try...

Wisper Wayfarer - hard to ride

You've mistaken what we've said. We differentiate between controllers that use speed control and those that use power control for the pedal assist. Speed control sets a different target speed for each level of power assist, all with an algorithm that gives full power until your actual speed...

    Controller for viking freedom ebike

They didn't describe a single test. From that I would guess that they don't know how to test an ebike or its controller. If they knew about controllers, they'd say something like, " We tested that the resistance of all the mosfets were within the normal range and we checked whether there was 5v...

Long range hilly terrain road/path bike.

Are you sure about that? It doesn't sound right to me. Orbea offer a lifetime warranty on the frame and any rigid forks. They're not going to replace your chain when it wears out nor your battery when it becomes too tired to work.

    Anderson adapter

That kit will be fine for your bike. why don't you get a downtube type battery from Yose? That would probably solve the problem of connection. the brakes won't work on your bike. the best solution is to get a hidden wire brake sensor. It would require some soldering to connect it...

    Dead Battery with Controller

The problem is that I can't understand what you're telling me, though it sounds like you have some dodgy wiring. You still didn't answer my question about whether you have a speed sensor on the wheel. You have a Cyclamatic motor that doesn't have a speed sensor in it, so this is an important...

    Anderson adapter

Have you already ordered the kit? Either way, show us a picture of the bike you plan to fit it to. One of the whole bike, one of the bottom bracket from directly underneath and a close up of the gears at the back.

    Anderson adapter

We're here to help, as we have been for many years. When your kit arrives, take a photo of the connectors on the controller and the battery, then we can give you some choices of what to do to connect them up. There are always minor snags when you install a kit, so if there's anything you're...

Rear hub motor recommendations for cycle courier bike

That's bad news for us, but probably means that Xiongda are doing well. I don't really know anybody else. AKM motors normally have easy-peal labels on them, which some people find useful.

    Anderson adapter

Nobody will know until your stuff arrives. I'd wait until you can see what you have. You will probably need something if you can't solder two wires together, but I wouldn't want to bet on which connectors you'd need.

    Controller for viking freedom ebike

Maybe I missed it, but I don't remember walk assist being mentioned. Just in case it hasn't been tested, can you confirm whether it works or not. Hold the down button for more than 2 second to see if the motor turns the wheel. This is the type of meter you need. it looks complicated, but it's...

8fun hub motor making clicking sound

You will have to remove the cassette with a cassette tool and take the side-plate off the motor like I described before. You need a cassette tool and a chainwhip to get the cassette retainer cap off. I don't know whether it's your photo, muck in ther or what, but i don't see a normal spline...

    Controller for viking freedom ebike

It's a good sign that the LCD is working. it normally means that there's nothing wrong with the battery. To go further, you will need a meter. Do you have one or access to one?

    Carrera Crossfire E 2.0 (2021 Model) VS Woosh Gran-Camino

This is a dead easy decision. You don't need any fancy spreadsheet. The Crossfire E is a fantastic bike when it's going. The problem is that that's too often not very long, which then brings the next problem: It's not the sort of bike you can fix by yourself when something goes wrong, so you're...

8fun hub motor making clicking sound

Not necessarily. It sound like your free-hub is borked. Take the cassette off and see how the freehub detatches. there are various versions. the early ones just pull off after you've removed the axle nuts. if you can show me what you have, I might have a spare one.

    Controller for viking freedom ebike

As I thought, you have a sensorless motor. OK, lets wait to see what the shop says. it'll be interesting because you can't harm a controller by taking the battery off. If you had said, it cut out after going up a long steep hill, or you said that the motor was making weird noises and then...

    Dead Battery with Controller

Did you install a separate speed sensor with a wheel magnet? You're not helping by showing different bikes. One has a bike computer on the handlebars and no LCD3. The other has an LCD3. What's going on. How is it changing?
