Extending arm to reduce chance of been hit by overtaking car

I agree, but that should keep the cars further away...... Somewhere, I have one of those rear lights, I might do a test when it rains.....if it still works and I did not give it away on my last e-bike!

    Cracked Head

Do let us know how you get on. Good that you posted, I forgot to mention the last part of the work (Maybe I tried the Meths!), my apologies. The work leaves paint streaks on the otherwise pristine paint, either side of the scratch. Do not try and clean it up too much, but when you consider it...

Extending arm to reduce chance of been hit by overtaking car

I would say why worry? It might make the car driver take a more careful overtake. But in fact, as the lasers shine a few degrees off the vertical, guessing 10°, IMHO the car driver that sees the reflection is FAR too close anyway......

    Cracked Head

If you can purchase the identical colour and paint type, a quick and easy fix is to have a "lint free" cloth (old pair of much washed jeans will also work!), soaked in the paint. But first clean the crack/scrape with meths (do not drink!), then rub the soaked cloth "across the crack", (not...

    WARNING ebiketuning.com selling useless tools

I do not see how any of us can claim minority or majority on such an item. But "some" here, seem to make a "hobby" of picking fights with other members. How about simply giving more of the good, friendly advice, and far less of the attacking. The last perfect person on this planet, got himself...

Possibly the worst cycle accessory i have seen this year

They apparently do flash very bright LEDs, but I agree, especially in the daytime, swerving around obstacles could be a really bad idea indeed. That is also a strange way to advertise them IMHO too! I do have two mirrors, but if I did not know 200% exactly what is near to me, I would rather...

Possibly the worst cycle accessory i have seen this year

I haven't seen them myself, so I don't have an opinion really, either way, but may I ask why you feel that they are not a good idea? And anyone else with a strong opinion, for or against them! I am fascinated to learn more! regards to all Andy

Proteus becomes the world's first manufactured non-cuttable material - New better Bike Locks?

I did not realise we were racing each other in such matters? It seems I am not the only one here who likes to remain "up to date" on such things! Very gratifying. I still say:- Better twice than never? Andy

bike without single point of failure

I am unnable to find a better picture than this, which appears to have two chains! At least it does in all the pictures I can find under the name " Swizzbee". If there is a different setup, maybe someone can post a clear picture or two? Many thanks for searching that out for us here. Plus I...

    Panniers for grocery shopping.

I always have two panniers on my bike fitted permanently, and I have a trailer for really big shops. The trailer I bought when my previous dog was diagnosed with a benign form of cancer in the front paws, so that I could take her swimming with me, to reduce the distances she would need to...

bike without single point of failure

They are called "Hub Motored" e-bikes, and often "weigh" less than many mid motor bikes! Even cheap ones can be made light! Regards Andy PS. Maybe someone will eventually (if a need is seen) put together a mid motor bike where the motor drives the rear wheel, either with its own chain (bulky)...

    Idiot in a Mercedes

Maybe I was a bit too hard on UK owners, my apologies. Here, its quite different, though the owners would not agree. I remember a newspaper cartoon, in a German motoring magazine, set in a crowded town square! A BMW driver was holding up his BMW key fob, with the BMW badge showing, and telling...

    Idiot in a Mercedes

The single themselves out as in this case. We (sadly) see a lot of it here in Germany, no good manners in the outside lane at 240KM/Hour! Germany is famous for poor road manners. Maybe you see less of it in the UK, I don't live there, so I could not write about "there" accurately, could I...
