Broken my 'new to me' Wisper bike after 5 minutes

Better safe than sorry was always a good idea. None of us know exactly his knowledge level with e-bikes, their batteries, their electronics and power. Its also a lot different to mains electrics! Radically so! The two people I mentioned were both professionals, one a computer technician of many...

Broken my 'new to me' Wisper bike after 5 minutes

Unless you are MORE THAN 100% sure as to what you are doing, that cannot be recommended, as if you happen to accidentally short the live and ground of the battery, you may melt cables and damage components even more. But your choice at the end of the day. The voltages in e-bikes are generally...

Long bikes (2bikes joined together) where?

I see a problem if one wants to go left, and the other right! Optically, it appears that the pedals are fixed to each other, so that gears could also be added with little or no problems I feel... regards Andy

Long bikes (2bikes joined together) where?

This might be the reason you need for the Alu version of the welding handle, which holds the spool in the handle. I have never tried one myself, but I was tempted some time ago, and managed to do the job in Stainless steel instead, which won't help you, sadly! I did find this for about 50 UK...

For those DIYers amongst us needing a Battery Terminal welder to Re-Cell Bike Batteries. Also in DIY!

I stumbled over this:- https://scottiestech.info/2020/10/13/dark-welder-2-my-diy-battery-tab-spot-welder/ It appears to be somewhat similar (IMHO) to a battery welder a friend onf mine made some years ago, and his is still working! regards Andy

    dongle

A question impossible to answer accurately, except by your good self! So may I suggest that you remove the dongle, and ride about the same as you have done, and see if in the same time, you have ridden more or less miles! Then you will have your answer. That is being a tricky way to get an...

    Regenerative pedalling.

Many do not understand this fully, but it is simply not worth the extra possible electrical/electronic/mechanical complications it might possibly cause, (as clearly pointed out by Wicky above!) basically only providing further sources where problems can arise, until someone is willing to design...

    Bike Locks

Some good advice already, to which I would add two points:- 1) two locks, one frame and front wheel, second to frame and rear wheel and a solid object. 2) an alarm that is not obvious, but very loud. I use one that looks (and IS!) like a rear light, goes under the saddle, has a remote control...

    Buying used e-bikes

Good move. Also the parts of hub bikes, ones that will work with the rest of the bike, are easier to source and generally cheaper to buy. Some complete bikes are under 1000 UK Pounds new.... Regards Andy

Help!....Replacement crank bolt for Bosch line+...Raleigh Motus GT

That is an important difference! But super expensive postage. I have no need of them myself, but I was looking at one of the ebay ads, and actually it should be quite easy, to "make them up" yourself, using a High Qulaity Stainless 10mm Hex or TORX bolt of the correct length, suitable quality...

Help!....Replacement crank bolt for Bosch line+...Raleigh Motus GT

There are several cheaper options in the UK that list a far lower postage, for instance here:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bicycle-Sealed-Crank-Arm-Bolts-for-Square-Taper-Bottom-Bracket-JIS-ISO-M8/193544933209?hash=item2d102d4f59:g:z0gAAOSwTYde-3d4 Regards Andy

Help!....Replacement crank bolt for Bosch line+...Raleigh Motus GT

The question has now been clearly answered as to why the head is 8mm and the thread 10mm! Many thanks Andy PS A picture would have helped tremendously, as I requested originally!

Help!....Replacement crank bolt for Bosch line+...Raleigh Motus GT

May I suggest two things:- 1) when you have a question about a part, if possible make a close up and clear photo, with a ruler for sizing, and post it here as well, with your question. 2) Check out ebay and other online suppliers, as it is probably a pretty standard part. Guessing only though...

    Chain lube

I use a plastic "oiler", that "dips" the chain through a tiny bath, which is best for Derailleur gears. They are available very cheaply here. Here is one similar to mine on ebay:-...

    Chain lube

I use quality Synthetic Motor Oil. Oil that is considered expensive when compared to other motor oils when needing say 5 liters, but the tiny amount needed for a bike chain each year, is simply unnoticeable! But thats my Scottish blood stopping me from wasting money....:);) I have not had any...

    Twisted Seal on fork

Unusual problem IMHO, probably caused by dirt while riding. If it was my bike, I would try lubricating it with a drop or two of car brake fluid and bumping it up and down. Brake fluid is not dangerous to rubber, but is very dangerous for paintwork, so do not get it on your bike's paint. Wipe off...

    Stuck at the lights

What I have seen occasionally in the UK, is a button for cyclists, to let the traffic light electronics know you are waiting..... Maybe that could be mentioned to the local police? Or someone else, for attention. Andy

    Tranzx BL03 rebuild

I don't disagree with you, but I thought that at the price of a cheap welder, he can use what he has already paid for. And he might be able to "sell on" the welder to someone doing the same, when he does not need it anymore. The $16 one must be so cheap that it is easily covered by his...

    Tranzx BL03 rebuild

Firstly, soldering will most likely damage your cells, as soldering takes too long, and may overheat the cell.. They need to be spot welded, almost instantaneous. There is a reasonable video here, with links to other information and about the welding:-...
