    Schottky Diode Parallel Pack Adaptor

Bravo for a decent write-up that will give readers a good steer to making their own leads.

    Variable battery charger?

@vfr400 -I'd not seen one of those watt meter devices before - a question if I may? I can see that the WATT reading is a simple calculation based on the current being drawn and the battery voltage at the time, but can you tell me to what use the Amp Hour reading is put to please?- apologies if...

How many of you also own and ride a regular bike?

Yes, a classic frame indeed (and those side pull brakes that would barely work in the wet!) and I love steel for it's comfort and my 1989 Dawes Galaxy is still my favourite ride (canti brakes). I do wonder though with steel, as to what corosion (if any) might be going on inside the frame tubes...

    Parallel batteries

This is not necessarily directed at the OP, but to those who on reading this thread, might have similar queries, and it is this: Given that such a question as the above and other similar questions of a very basic nature have to be asked in the first place, I would advise that caution is...

    Speed Difference

The GPS system is USA controlled and at the moment Donald Trump is in charge - I think I'll stick with my Cateye until he's gone ...... :D :D :D

    can i change display ?

I experienced a similar issue on my wife's Pendleton Somerby - if you read my posting here, you'll see what I did to upgrade the controller and display - it'll cost you around £80 to do but it'll change the nature of the ride experience for the better.

Budget front wheel 26" conversion kit recommendations

@vfr400 and @Woosh - thank you both for your comments re the above regarding front vs rear hubs. I had a fairly long list of pros and cons but that list is now a little bit longer. The point about the front drop-outs maybe not allowing the hub motor to clear the fork tubes is NOT something...

Budget front wheel 26" conversion kit recommendations

As someone who is researching their first ebike build, I am learning a lot fom the esteemed forumites here, yourself included. I would be grateful if you could expand on why you think a rear hub motor is always better, which does not seem to be a universally held view. I can understand the...

Budget front wheel 26" conversion kit recommendations

Hi @Woosh - forumites have expounded the benefits of getting their ebike kit from you many times, and clearly your quality of pre and after-sales support is worth the extra that might cost, and of course under normal circumstances, you have UK stock too. However, the Woosh website paints a...

Budget front wheel 26" conversion kit recommendations

Over the years I've seen many people put off cycling because they thought 'I'll buy a cheap bike to see if I like cycling' only to get a crap experience after pedalling a few tortuous miles on some bicycle like object and vowing to never put their butt on a saddle again. So if you buy cheap...

    Woosh 1st 1000 miles

Fair enough and each to their own. The 'steel rule' method is the traditional way of observing chain wear but you have to have a steel rule with 1" graduations and know about chain pitch. The wear gauge takes all that messing about away and provides a very quick estimate of chain condition. By...

Which step through for lady cyclist

I recently acquired a second hand Pendleton Somerby eBike for my wife - this is the first ebike in our household and although I've been (seriously) cycling for many years, this was my first experience of an ebike, so please temper my comments accordingly. Firstlly, I have ridden the bike for a...

    Woosh 1st 1000 miles

Yes, basic first aid stuff to have around. > Keep the chain wear gauge in the bike shed and periodically use it to monitor 'chain stretch' - the gauge is a simple GO/NO GO device - change your chain as soon as the lower level of wear is noted - in this way you'll reduce wear on the rear...

    Parallel batteries

Agreed - using Schotkys as steering diodes is as I said, a neat idea and something I shall gladly store away for a future project.

    Possible donor bike

Do you mean a mid drive conversion or were you thinking of stripping out the Rohloff and selling it separately and going for a rear hub conversion? If the Rohloff is sound, you'd get a good price for it I reckon.

    Parallel batteries

A nice idea but given the situation about the multimeter, I suspect the OP might find determining Anodes and Cathode (of diodes) a bit of a challenge?

    charging problem

The first thing is to get out your multimeter (you don't have one! but you have an eBike - best buy one soonest) and see if the charger is putting out a voltage on the charging plug pins. If not, use the multimeter to check the charger's mains lead plug fuse. If there is an internal fuse...
