Where would you recommend buying e-conversion kits from?

I've just ordered my conversion kit from PSWPower direct and a battery and charger from them but via their AliExpress outlet. Both items are shipping from Germany and so far the total price is £100 less than the best UK price - let's see how Mr HMRC treats me! I'll feed back to this post when...

Newbie considering an e-conversion. But what.

:D:D:D @vfr400 - You're right, it is just academic as knowbody has defined the 'continuously rated' parameters and how to measure them and I absolutely agree with the label notion. The law is often an ass and this pedelec parameter (of 250w) is another example. But hey, wouldn't a perfect...

Newbie considering an e-conversion. But what.

No, not 'what so ever' but continuous rating. The wording is about not exceeding a continuous power output, not peak/occasional/now and then. I agree that if you stick the extra (above rated) volts in then the power out is much more than the nominal rating, but would such a motor maintain...

Newbie considering an e-conversion. But what.

At the risk of being boring, can I dwell a bit more on the 250w thing please? The wording in EN15194 is or is similar to "The maximum continuous rated power of the electric motor must not exceed 250 Watts " Can it be assumed from this that if a motor can deliver more than 250w continuously...

New VAT rules for overseas sellers supplying goods to UK customers - Any experiences yet?

@Manc44 - thanks for updating the costing details. The various figures are set over a number of posts and I'm not entirely clear at to the various elements involved but basically could you just add what the total overall cost of items you bought were: > to you doorstep, > and what the cost...

e bike on rear rack without battery and rear wheel?

Personally I'd exercise caution if exceeding the 15kg limit per bike as that is what the individual components that make up that part of the rack have been designed to.

Where can I get a compatible replacement handlebar display for a Pendleton Somerby ebike? (King Meter 790 LED)

I have the original Pendleton controller in the bike shed somewhere after I upgraded the controller (see this link for details). Drop me a private message if you want me to dig it out/have any questions.

Has anyone moded there tongsheng tdz2 36v 250w with open source firmware?

Thanks @TJS109 and @Nealh for your comments. I'm aware that the TSDZ2 has a built in torque sensor as part of its controlling function and that the KT controllers employ 'torque simulation' - in fact I swapped the crappy Pendleton ebike OEM controller for a KT one and the torque simulation...

Has anyone moded there tongsheng tdz2 36v 250w with open source firmware?

Hi Monty, the main reason I was looking at the TSDZ2 was the torque controlling aspect whereby the amount of electrical assist is proportional to the rider's pedalling effort. Your comments and experiences of the TSDZ2 have now raised a question mark on my thinking. Is the same type of 'torque...

    Kalkhoff bike owner

Why do you say that? I've had Magura rim brakes on our tandem for 12 years and only ever had to change the brake blocks and their stopping power is great and if you've ever descended long hills on a fully loaded tandem as we have many a time, you do need good brakes and the Maguras fit the bill...

    Chainset and bottom bracket

I think you lost any possible contributors when you said you had square taper pedals:cool:...... Anyway, glad to hear you've solved the issues. I'd not heard of the 'bikers trick' of reversing the chain before. IHMO that is not worth considering on a pedal bike as the chain rollers wear...

Has anyone moded there tongsheng tdz2 36v 250w with open source firmware?

As a bit of an aside, I'm looking to source a TSDZ2 (250w or 350w) but am getting the distinct impression that there are some shortages and/or it's dropping out of favour (is the Bafang BBS02 currenly winning the marketing war?)? For instance @Woosh bikes aren't currently listing the TSDZ2 and...

    Pendleton E-Bike - Neglected batttery - Won't charge

What an informative article and one I've book-marked for future reference in case I or my friends suffer the 'dead battery' phenomenon as you have - thank you very much. I would guess that the batteries haven't got off 'scott free' from being so heavily discharged but your first aid fix seems...

    Help! Pendleton ebike

It would be helpful if you included a few more observations/comments such as: >you say 'bought' - was this new or used and has it previously worked whilst in your ownership? > if you bought new, then are you reasonably able to return to the place of purchase for help > Are you confident the...

Aldi have some decent bikes in that would make for good conversions

Those sort of bikes look just the thing to put off those who buy them from ever wanting to cycle again. Something that looks like a bike but in all practical senses can turn out to be a dog to ride - what one might describe as a Bicycle Like Object. Having said that, buyers may be inspired...

Just done a conversion and need help with PAS

A long shot - is the bottom bracket knackered as in when you put pressure on the pedals, the cranks rock a little to left and right as you pedal which in turn might be increasing the distance between magnets/sensor?
