    My Cargo bike build.

Hi Peter, I guess you are refering to the axle snapping? Can I ask what sort of riding you do with your TSDZ2 fitted machine? For instance, are you a mountain biker and do you do jumps and so forth (I'm thinking about the stresses on the axle). The additional bearings fitted by @Nealh seem...

    My Cargo bike build.

Hi @Nealh - good work on increasing the thermal conductivity of the motor casing - are you going to fit the thermistor to the motor to measure the temperture? And I really like the additional bearings for the axle - can I ask what size the bearings are and where you got them from please as that...

    My Cargo bike build.

Hi @guerney - I know from previous posts that you are a keen fan of the BBSxxx motors - as much as I am with the TSDZ2. I suspect though that we have quite different ride requirements from our motors? I would gladly consider a BBSxxx motor if it operated in the torque mode that the TSDZ2 does -...

    My Cargo bike build.

Hi Neal, How different we are in terms of our perceptions of ebike motor systems I've ridden a rear hub drive with a KT controller (torque simulation)but only the one model and only a couple of hundred miles - so I don't have the experience that you do, but I have done tens of thousands of...

Do I need to replace chain for mid-drive?

Purists like to use a steel rule to determine chain wear - I used to do it that way too then I got a wear guage as per the pic below. Purists poo po them but I find them entirely accurate enough and a damn sight easier to use than a steel rule and thus one is more inclined to measure more...

The lightest conversion with smallest battery

Just by way of comparison, I have a TSDZ2 250w, 36v which ways in around 3Kg and a 10Ah bottle battery, also around 3Kg I have seen 36v 7Ah bottle batteries around so undoubtedly lighter but I don't know by how much.

Tsdz2 ? Motor failure after washing

After any sort of strip-down, on re-assembly where there are O-rings involved, I usually add a smearing of Red Rubber Grease - this grease is rubber/O-ring friendly and you can get a small tin which will last for ages, from eBay for £4. Vasalene is OK too.

Help! Tongsheng tsdz2 sound problem diagnose

I love your approach to diagnostics - a person after my own heart - brilliant  Anyway, the blue gear slack - hmmm, it does seem wobbly, but TBH, I can't truly remember if mine was like that or not - maybe someone like @Woosh has more direct experience. Having stripped down that far, if it...

Tsdz2 ? Motor failure after washing

Sorry to hear of your woes @7lucky7 - as you say, it would be a huge coincidence to some failing NOT related to the wash-down. As already said I'd be looking at water ingress in the double yellow speed sensor which may have caused a problem with the controller - after all, it is through that...

Help! Tongsheng tsdz2 sound problem diagnose

You probably know this already - to access the blue gear, it is those 6 screws are what hold the motor in place. After removing the coloured wires and 6 screws, the motor can be pulled out but may require tapping with a Mallet to loosen it. Search YouTube 'tsdz2 disassembly' where the vid by...

Help! Tongsheng tsdz2 sound problem diagnose

Thats an interesting observation by @Woosh who as a retailer of these motors has much experience with them. My thoughts are that the noise is coming from one of the two clutches ('sprag' or 'blue gear') when the clutch is disengaged I'm looking back at the animation I linked to and this is my...

TSDZ2 or rear hub motor for my recumbent trike?

Hi Simon, My friend has a Recumbent Trike to which he fitted a TSDZ2 to (250w 36v version) and I've not had negative reports from him about his ride experience. He is not a member of this forum but I'll copy him in on the post and I'm sure he could answer any questions you might have and I'll...

Help! Tongsheng tsdz2 sound problem diagnose

OK, try this - lift off the chain and with the motor powered off, rotate the pedals/cranks both forward and backward. Do you get the noise in both directions of crank rotation or just in one direction? If in just one direction, which direction is it? There are two clutches in the motor, one in...

    For Sale Ladies Bike

I get the logic but then how do you know that ANYONE has remported it which carries the inherent danger of nobody reporting it. I think if the very first response to the initial post says that the poster is reporting it then at least there's a more than fair chance that new readers will spot...

    For Sale Ladies Bike

The mods need to remove that last post - such obvious twaddle/spam {Admin note: to clarify, there was a second post hijacking the bike for sale thread, very obviously spam, now removed..so this post relates to the removed post not the opening one. Since others have replied I'll leave these...

Help! Tongsheng tsdz2 sound problem diagnose

Apologies for asking this, but have you tried spinning the cranks with the chain removed? Noises in aluminium frames travel and so by removing the chain, you can be more certain that any untoward noise is definitely coming from the motor assembly.

    TSDZ2– No overheating for me

TSDZ2– No overheating for me Here’s my observation about motor overheating (or not). I hope those who may have been put off looking into using the TSDZ2 because of this issue, find the following useful, and of course your own observations and comments are welcome (but no repeating...

Front hub conversion on vintage delivery bike. Battery suggestions and best motor query

Rear frames made of steel can be 'sprung' to increase the OLN dimension but I've no idea if front forks can be done. I'm sure if you posted the question on the Cycling UK forum, you'd get an answer to this. There might even be a YouTube on the topic?
