    TSDZ2 Clutch Failure

Received replacement bare motor and fitted. I think it's all working but need to go for an actual ride. Run for 5 or 10 mins on walk assist and it's fine. Btw, should have enabled walk assist from the get go as a much easier way to adjust indexing on rear derailleur... Edit: done a brisk loop...

The rims on my non-electric folder are wearing badly and hardly use it. On my electric mtb conversion I think the rims also won’t last too long. A lot really depends on the hills and speed one can safely descend said hills. I’m down to 10mph on very steep hills because single track, bends, high...

    Wisper 806

I’m not sure how a more powerful motor solves my current problem of water ingress, crapped out hall switch, inability of current bike to bend in the middle, and annoying v-brakes. My current motor is powerful enough when it is working. I feel that I’m chancing my luck every time it starts...

If nothing else, I get through a small fortune in brake pads and need to adjust for wear every few outings. My hill is steep, single track, covered in loose gravel, high hedges and sharp bends. It’s the sort of hill you descend at 10mph in case you meet an idiot in a car coming up that refuses...

    Wisper 806

I don’t need a more powerful motor, I need a more reliable motor and it needs to fit a folder with disc brakes. I was climbing at 6mph at the slowest and that’s about 85rpm and towards the top of the TSDZ2 cadence assist range. 26 inch wheels, 34t chainring, 32t rear cog. I will not contemplate...

I hear you, but struggling to find a suitable folder with disc brakes. I am coming to terms with the idea of a hub motor. Buying pre-build wasn’t my 1st choice…I don’t need a massive battery as will still have the TSDZ2 mountain bike crapcycle for long rides - these are always pleasure /...

    Wisper 806

It’s currently in pieces in my conservatory…waiting for a new bare motor as looks like a hall sensor failure, so yes. Have also had to replace a bearing on speed reduction shaft due to water ingress. It gets me up the hill fine, usually in tour on stock firmware. It does have dual chainrings...

    Wisper 806

Hi, after an extensive thread of musings, I am leaning towards a Wisper 806. Want to get people’s experience…so more focussed thread. I’ll be keeping my crappy old mountain bike with a TSDZ2 for longer rides and when I want some exercise. I like the TSDZ2 ride but not the reliability. The 806...

I am coming to the same conclusion, reading reviews this will easily manage 16% hills and ticks all the boxes. Well made, good uk support. Not sure I understood the bit about keeping upright when folded - does this just relate to long term storage or putting in boot of car?

    Converting a little folder

I’m sure it’s just me being a wimp, but I would be very wary of some hookey front wheel after market disc adapter. I’m not handsome but a faceplant isn’t going make me any more so…

The reason for the folder is that it folds. I do a mixture of rides, the more utilitarian ones are to medical appointments, yoga classes, walk n beer with mates. All of these are ~12 mile round trip with a big hill on the way back. A folder would be convenient as easier to stash the bike...

I'm back on the folder hunt again after the death of my TSDZ2 - that should get fixed next week I hope but I need another bike as a spare anyway. A hub motor probably does make more sense and the correct motor in a 20 inch wheel will still provide a lot of hill climbing potential. I like the...

    TSDZ2 Clutch Failure

New motor on the way, Andy @Woosh came good and found a spare. I think I am going to have to get another bike going. If I’m going to need a spare motor, might as well have a whole spare bike. Still working on my folder idea. The wires are not broken but the board looks a mess and there is no...

    TSDZ2 Clutch Failure

I’m slightly confused about replacement motors though…sure, I understand why there are two different windings for 36v and 48v. Not really sure why different options exist for 250, 350, 500w ? Sure, I could understand the controller being different with different firmware config, but I would...

    TSDZ2 Clutch Failure

That's a kind offer. I'll see what Andy comes up with, gave him a call yesterday so he is having a rummage about. I'm not near Portsmouth. I could try and remove the whole kit and reinstate a normal BB and crankset in the short term. Major faff though. If no joy from Andy I'll try and borrow a...

    TSDZ2 Clutch Failure

Just to update, it’s almost certainly a hall switch. Multimeter on 2 of the 3 gives 0 to 5v. 1 of the 3 (blue wire) often does not go above 2.5v. I am testing with power from the controller so I guess it is possible the controller is pulling the voltage down on that one switch but that sounds...

    TSDZ2 Clutch Failure

https://endless-sphere.com/sphere/threads/tdsz2-howto-motor-hall-sensors-replacement-originally-error-3-torque-fault.107538/ Looks like I need to play with my multimeter today...my problem sounds like the last post in the above thread. If it's the hall sensor PCB then that looks fiddly and I'm...

    TSDZ2 Clutch Failure

Ok, I spoke too soon. It's intermittent but I think it's a bad connection or controller. I have a video but can't upload it here. Have not had a proper look. It sounds like a load vibration and loss of power. Can happen in walk assist. Intermittent. Will check the connections next...I'm sure if...

    TSDZ2 Clutch Failure

Possibly but I think life is too short. Just feels like this is an intricate component prone to failure. My suspicion is that the previous water ingress didn’t help the clutch. I had to replace the bearing on the speed reduction shaft not that long ago due to water - and the blue gear is...

    TSDZ2 Clutch Failure

That was red rubber grease around the housing seals to keep water getting in the case rather than lots of grease on the needle bearing, I agree that over lubricating the bearing is a poor idea.
