    Yose Power kit advice

I did get an eBay response back from yose power (ysbatteryuk) but as expected it was quite vague. As expected the cells are no name affairs. The motors are slower ~200rpm, but no specific model given, and no details of the display. I am sure they are ok but the lack of detailed info isn't...

    Yose Power kit advice

Yes, speed is not my top priority - on the flat I can keep up an acceptable pace (unless too windy). But I want to not bog down too much on hills. I wonder if the yose power kit controller and display will work on 48v - guessing not. The pswpower batteries look to have branded cells for...

    Yose Power kit advice

From what I can see the hub motor is likely an akm 100sx 201 rpm. I can see a g75 and g128 in the simulator. Guessing the 100sx performance is somewhere in between? That is a process of elimination, the 100sx being the only front 100mm 250w 201 rpm motor I can find from akm. Anybody got...

    Yose Power kit advice

I have had a look at the akm motors in the simulator and they actually appear to perform ok. I would absolutely need the 201rpm variant. The sellers on eBay and Amazon are very vague about the motor model they ship...I have asked ysbatteryuk on eBay for specific details about motor model and...

    Yose Power kit advice

It's a shame I can't really try before I buy. Last time I had an ebike it was always winter (cold and strong winds) that the battery voltage would sag on the steep hills close to home and would cut out. I live on a hill so there is always a big hill in the last few miles...it was fine for...

    Yose Power kit advice

I think I would probably be less concerned with a lower torque motor on a front hub. My very old conversion was front but with steel forks. It certainly sounds like the xf07 is not suitable for me. A yose power front 210 rpm 'may' work...but I suspect I will stick with my original plan and wait...

Help choosing kit - probablly Whoosh but will consider others...

I have looked at MXUS xf07 on the motor simulator and that clearly isn't beefy enough to get me up the hills around here. Even with moderate rider input it looks like it will bog down on 10 to 15% hills. The rear version appears to have a bit more torque but not enough to make a big difference I...

Humph, I see that the DWG22C kits now say September in the Whoosh shop. My understanding was that these would be available end of last month...at this rate I will get myself fit enough that I don't need a kit... Guessing supply chain woes. Not really sure there is an alternative kit I think...

Help! Best of conversion kits review

I think a lot of folks will often sing the praises (or complain bitterly) on the kit they have selected. I am going through the process of selecting a kit (well, I have selected one, just waiting for stock). It feels like buying shoes online. Never really sure if they will fit and be...

Conversion kit on folder - TSDZ2 or other?

I don't think FirstBus specify a max size for folding bikes but I will double check. I have seen somebody take on Raleigh folder to that is a typical 20 inch folder. The round trip to Bristol is about 44 miles. Its quite hilly as well as I live in the highest village on the Mendips so getting...

Conversion kit on folder - TSDZ2 or other?

I would think the obvious way forward is to look out for a used Dahon or similar if I am serious. Not worth taking the risk with the Tern. They did add an additional strengthening part to the replacement frame but in the picture above you can see this is one of the more recent frames with the...

Conversion kit on folder - TSDZ2 or other?

I have not seen any reports on the replacement Tern link frames failing, and all the failures I see are in front of the hinge and not particularly in an area that would be stressed by a mid drive motor - but still my confidence is knocked a little...here is a link to the recall notice for these...

Conversion kit on folder - TSDZ2 or other?

Having read some more I think frame issues persist on other Tern bikes. It looks like the recalled frames are 'probably' OK but it does not make me feel good about using the bike. Tbh I had stopped cycling for a long time due to ill health and have not used the folder after the frame was...

Conversion kit on folder - TSDZ2 or other?

I know a number of Tern farmes were recalled and replaced (mine included) because of a problem in a weld. My understanding was that the replacemtn frames were OK for regular use but you may well be correct in that they are not up to a mid-drive motor. Do you beleive this is a Tern specific issue...

Conversion kit on folder - TSDZ2 or other?

OK, just found a better measuring stick, BB is 68mm and chainline is ~42.5mm so not too far off. Any thoughts on the Neath's comment about frame strength given the BB is in the same half of the frame as the rear wheel? BM

Conversion kit on folder - TSDZ2 or other?

That would be unwelcome. I thought it might be ok as the bottom bracket and the rear wheel are all in the same back half of the frame behind the hinge? I can certainly see that spanning the frame hinge would be a bad idea...

Conversion kit on folder - TSDZ2 or other?

I am trying to convert my decrepid old mountain bike to a rear hub but also started looking at my folding bike. Its a Tern (Dahon derivative) 20 inch wheel with an 8 speed cassette Anyway the drpouts front and rear are not standard sizes and I know there are front hub motors that will fit but...

That's good news, I was having a bit of a downer on the 29e cells, I'm sure the Panasonic's are a much better fit... I think the problem with buying an ebike (and perhaps more so with a kit) over the internet is that it is too much like buying shoes online. So hard to know if they will be a...

Are What cells are in the HL. I think I had read Samsung 29e but some of the early versions are are a bit crusty now and anyway I can't make the math work. Is the 48v hl a 13s4p config? That would mean a 12ah battery is 3ah cells in parallel and I don't think the 29e comes in a 3ah variant...
