eMTB owners photo and ride thread.

Certainly, an interesting and painful week. Stupidly, I took yet another heavy fall over the handlebars during a night ride on Thursday, and have definitely learnt that I don’t bounce as easily as I did when I was younger! It wasn't helped by one of the clips not releasing on the pedal. Sadly...

    Be Prepared

Freezing my nuts off is one thing, having to cycle on the A22 with a dead bike, in the dark with a crap back light, and black clothing, is quite another. :)

    Be Prepared

I usually go prepared for anything, but nothing prepared me a couple of weeks ago for loosing the bike in what was basically a pond, after going over the handlebars in a hole that stopped the bike dead. It's lovely getting an error 500 and 501 code when miles from home in the dark. All good fun...

    Shimano XT rear mech snapped

The sensor magnet has also some how been moved. You might want to adjust that as well. :)

SOMEONE CALLED THE POLICE ABOUT MY EBIKE VIDEO!!!

I had two police officers turn up at my house about three weeks ago in relation to a bike related incident. On the 21st September last year I was blocked from coming out of a carpark on Ashdown Forest by an off duty ranger by the name of James Clow. He proceeded to read me the riot act about...

    Bosch (cube) Issues

Spot on, and to expand upon that a little further, one cause that allows what you have stated to happen, is bearing and or seal failure, so allowing moisture/water ingress into the drive unit. I should say though, that this is often in conjunction with an error 500 or 511 error code being shown.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Hi all. :) Many thanks for contacting me Zlatan, but not wishing to offend anyone in any direction, I agree with flecc. Life hasn't been great to me of late, and I'm quite content to ignore anything that has happened in the past, and start with a clean slate so to speak. :) .

    What's happening at 50 Cycles?

Off topic, but adding to the BH element. It is a shame that BH never got their act together, as the NEO range of bikes were by far some of the most well styled bikes at the time, and remain so even today. They had so much going for them, especially the NEO Race with it's road bike bias, and flat...

    What's happening at 50 Cycles?

I think that the biggest issue back then, was the importer. They went through two in a short period, neither of whom were any good, and made it impossible for the dealer to get things sorted. To compound things further, BH were always shut for some Spanish holiday or another.

    What's happening at 50 Cycles?

The dreaded BH experience. Two things helped with getting a full refund with that one. Dave with his kind advice about the mythological regen, and my tracking down the main company director in Spain, and hounding him to death privately and on social media.

Hub or Mid Drive? Any views?

More of crime to have it sat in a shed unused, like so many mountain bikes. Using it as you are, is good thing.

    Battery use in snow temperatures

On the rare occasions that the South East gets snow, I never give the battery a second thought. More of an issue for me is the freezing of components such as gear cables, calipers, and even the front forks collapsing when the internal valves freeze solid. All good fun though. :)

Hub or Mid Drive? Any views?

If I were looking for a daily ride with the overall use biased towards road and even just low non technical off road terrain, and could only choose from between these two bikes, then I'd opt for the hub drive every time. Whilst I love mid drive for my predominately off road biased riding, I do...

    Bike Maintenance

Hi Andy, sadly the answer in my case is quite simple to answer. I ride in very abrasive acidic conditions, and everyone that I know who ride mtb's/eMTB's all get through a couple of sets a year. I also used to get through a couple of suspension bush kits a year, and at least one fork rebuild a...

    Death of the derailleur?

I think that I'll just stick to the trusty derailleur. Water and grime can destroy anything when riding off road, and I'd sooner just replace bottom bracket bearings and jockey wheel bearings every now and then, than be faced with who knows what with the above system. I can't recall the make...

    What's happening at 50 Cycles?

I can't argue with that one. BH are the one brand that I would never own again. .

    What's happening at 50 Cycles?

Sadly not always the case. Perhaps things are different now, but many years ago, I regected a new vehicle, and had to take the three company directors, the importer and the finance company to court. Luckily I won the two day court case, but it was five years of my life put on hold and wasted...

    electric scooter/skateboard laws

Funny that you should mention the above. I parked between the marina and the pier last Saturday, and was less than amused by the amount of scooters using the pavement. I have nothing really against them, just the fact they are so silent, so can't be heard coming past from behind.

    ASIAN HORNET ALERT.

If you fancy seeing it, it is at the lower end of Wakehurst Place, with the access by the public footpath at the bottom of the land. If it wasn't for a sign warning the public about it, I wouldn't have even seen it. I can always try to map it for you. I know that many don't like hornets, but...
