A random thread for things too unimportant for their own thread...

This is a sort of giving back to the community job that I took on. I have watched this bridge deteriorate over many years, and felt that something had to be done to try to preserve it for future generations . It's been a very pleasurable couple of weeks work. :)

    Woosh or wisper

Given the support that both companies offer via this forum, I'd say that neither would disappoint, and only by trying each product, could a conclusion be taken.

    Mid motor vs Hub motor.

A certain company gave me a drive unit roughly a year or so ago, with the instruction "see if you can destroy it" The drive unit has only recently failed, despite me trying very hard. The bike on the other hand is all but wrecked. There must have been slight bearing play that I was unaware of...

Dalston fatal e-bike crash rider 'going too fast' - Court Case

I have an issue with adaptive braking, or at least the system fitted to our Skoda Octavia. Last year on the M25 whilst driving along the central lane of three, a plastic bag blew across in front of the car, and the braking took over really sharply and aggressively. Had a car been sitting behind...

Dalston fatal e-bike crash rider 'going too fast' - Court Case

I'm in no way condoning anything that the rider of the bike has done, but unless put in the same situation in respect of hitting a pedestrian no one including the rider/driver knows how you would react. Something that I am sadly all too familiar with, and feel for all sides. :(...

Bosch cx motor failed again 4th

People also seem to have a habit of leaving the rubber O ring off as well. How much of a difference that it might make I have no idea, but figured that it was fitted for a reason, so leave it in place.

I had forgotten all about that.

    Next upgrade dilemma..

Don't forget to factor in an additional set of brake discs and another cassette into the wheel set purchase.

Bosch cx motor failed again 4th

I'd say that the comment came from a clueless dealer, rather than any representative from Bosch. Ask the dealer to expand upon the comment, preferably in writing.

The other consideration is that there would be no warranty. Really, he would be better off sending the drive unit to you to take a look at and advise from there. .

eMTB owners photo and ride thread.

Certainly another very wet and tricky ride this morning. :)

Not if it is new and hasn't been flashed. That needs to be established first. .

    Waterproof boots/shoes

Even on the eMTB, I now wear either wellies with cheapo waterproof trousers from Screwfix, or BB overshoes. Keeping things waterproof is easy, preventing water going down in from the ankle is the trickier part, which is where waterproof trousers come into their own. BB overshoes.

    Purion mode - emtb

I'm curious about the above statement. What are you riding down that requires an assist level of say between 210%-300% and how fast are you traveling? Also out of interest, what level of cadence do you ride at? .

    Purion mode - emtb

I can, and have now edited my previous post to include torque. You are going to have to wait for explanation though via YouTube.

    Purion mode - emtb

It sounds as though you have a thorough understanding of the correct use of cadence, gearing and torque, which of course is the way to get optimum usage from the mode.

    Be Prepared

Thanks Dave, I replaced the bearing pretty much the next day, and all is good again. Not wanting to derail the thread, there was a lot more to this failure than is being said. I have been carrying out a reliability test for the last year or so, as I feel that most bearing failures are down to...

    Purion mode - emtb

I used to be very negative about eMTB mode, but that was due to a software glitch in it that meant pulling away on slippery terrain was near on impossible. With it now long sorted, and me becoming more lazy, I use either tour or eMTB mode all of the time. I should add that I haven't noticed any...

Mid Drive for off trail and Hub Motor for flat commutes, true or false?

Other than a means of degreasing, I have never found WD40 to be of little use for anything. I certainly know from using it on my woodworking tools and machinery (my trade) that it doesn't prevent corrosion, and doesn't act as great lubricant either. It is a brilliant product for cleaning...

Mid Drive for off trail and Hub Motor for flat commutes, true or false?

The only time that I have had a chain snap, was on my pedal bike. I do wonder where these tales of chain snapping come from.
