Haibike FLYON bikes with TQ motor

The more that I look at this bike, the more that I consider it to be a complete disaster. To begin the list, I shall start at the front end. Integrated lights whilst desirable on a road bike, are a complete waste of time on an off road bike, and in the case of the light as fitted to this...

Mountain Of Hell is a better race, not that I am into either, but have several friends that make the annual trip to race in one or the other.

Sadly things are changing very rapidly there. :( Taking the Siberhorn for example, 30 years ago this was an amazing snow and ice covered mountain, but over the years I have watched it become more and more exposed. Current estimates are that the snow and ice will be completely gone from it in...

What ever next? It will be an ingress of mud and water.

Why have they made some kind of honeycomb designer head tube, then shuved cables through it? It gets worse! o_O

Or spit the rider off when they loose control. My take on the bike is as follows. The fins on either side of the drive unit are going to be a magnet for mud to collect. The torque is going to shorten drivetrain components. In generalisation, the higher the torque, the greater the battery...

Why would anyone need 120Nm of torque to pop the bike over obstacles?

One battery and eco mode. First gear was used quite frequently though. Bloody stupid of me really though, as I was carrying the spare battery! I got almost halfway through the ride, and decided to see if I actually could make the ride on one battery. Bright blue skies today, so off hiking...

No typo. ☺ The ride was actually pretty flat for the most part, with just gradual inclines over long distance, with the odd short sharp climb thrown in for good measure. This one was 4,987ft over just 7.1 miles.

Hi Trevor. I'm really enjoying it, and all seems really good. It was something that I intend to write about when I return, but I certainly don't regret the decision of using a hardtail over a full suspension bike. I'm actually having more fun.☺

The wettest and coldest that I have ever been during a ride. On road and off road, ridden using just eco mode and one battery, with a bit still left in reserve. 52.5 miles with an elevation gain of 7,666ft.

    What would you do?

On the assumption that the hire bike had a CX motor, and your bike a Performance Line motor, then your observation is one that I also agree with, as I have found exactly the same to be true.

    Austria joins th e-bike boom

I forgot to say that seemingly every other bike in Germany is an ebike, and I'm still amazed every time that I visit the country, by the endless cycle routes. Also interesting was the strong hold that KTM seem to have throughout Germany. It appears from what I saw, to be one of the most...

    Austria joins th e-bike boom

Very nice Chris. I have just made it to Switzerland and the weather isn't exactly great. The Km's have certainly racked up getting here this time. A tad under a 1,000km to my friends house near Nurnberg. A 630km day trip to another friend on the Czech Rebulic border. Another 300km day trip to...

That time of year again. Swiss trip 2018

I'm not sure of the bhp, but it certainly flies along, and accelerates very well. The actual model is an Elegance TDI CR S-A 1968cc

That time of year again. Swiss trip 2018

Hi Gaz, many thanks for the kind words. Ref the Skoda, we have only had it for about two months. It is a 2015 Octavia Estate Elegance auto with the 2.0 litre diesel engine and has covered just over 10,000 miles. Prior to this, we had a Volvo D5 S60 for 14 years, but it was just starting to make...

That time of year again. Swiss trip 2018

I didn't overly enjoy the Grutsch Trail at the 1.45- 2.50 point in the second clip. Riding it on my own at night time possibly wasn't the best or smartest thing to do for a first run with no knowledge of where it went or what was ahead. That kind of down hill riding really isn't my idea of fun...
