Nylon Gears in Ebike motors. Why?

I think there are two reasons. (1) Quieter. (2) Safe point of failure if anything does go wrong, cheap to replace and potentially avoiding more complicated and expensive failures. I'm sure the experts will be replying soon ... I look forward to their opinion.

    Bafang brake sensor bypass

Sensors for hydraulic brake levers are easy to fit. For example https://www.brightonebikes.co.uk/store/p8/Hydraulic_brake_sensor_cables%2C_electromagnetic_switches_BBS01%2F02%2FHD_-_Pair.html Many more to choose from, and several yuoutube videos I've not looked at. (We've got them because our...

    Battery charging puzzle

I've got some Tapo smart plugs (thanks to Ovo). These can act as a countdown timer, but also give interesting information about the charge rate. (Only about input to the charger, but still very informative.) To take full advantage would need a little more work. Shame they don't have a PC client...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

If they get their just deserts the Conservatives will come third to LibDems in seats and third to Reform in votes. I don't think either will happen; the Conservatives won't do quite as badly as most are predicting.

Advice on supplier for hub kit

Even in normal mode the Woosh Lishui controller combines current and speed control. This graph is NOT for the Woosh Lishui controller (apart from anything else that has 5 levels), but does show the sort of way I think the Lishui behaves. I can't find the correct graph.

    Drum brake

We had one as an extra on a tandem many years ago. My son also had one as an 8 year old on a Dawes Formula One. Like this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/305490585120 It was a very silly bike for several reasons, I don't know what induced me to buy it for him.

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

Probably not if it was his principal residence. However, you will have to pay Capital Transfer Tax (death duty) if the total estate including the flat is over the threshold. NOT an expert opinion, but I think I'm correct.

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

I agree. I've always been a sceptic. The meaning of the term AI changed over the decades, but the general uselessness of whatever 'AI' was at the time seemed to be constant. Then, almost suddenly, a brilliantly useful resource. As long as you remember to use the results very carefully.

UK - legality of thumb-throttles in DIY conversions

Batting an eyelid. Now that's a serious undertaking. They'd need previous permission from their seniors, and then hours of paperwork afterwards.

What are the most budget-friendly e-bike options in the UK? Can you recommend any brands or local stores?

You don't say what you want it for, how and where you'll be riding it, and how heavy/fit you are. Be especially careful with range estimates on any cheap ebikes. They are bad enough on expensive bikes, but VERY misleading on cheap ones which typically have very small batteries. They are usually...

    Individual cell resistance

You won't measure a cells resistance with a conventional meter. A meter's resistance settings are for measuring 'passive' resistance; the voltage from the cell will totally confuse things. The only way would be to measure the voltage across the cell when under load. Unless you knew the exact...

    Woosh Big Bear Bottom bracket

Probably best to search online for YouTube or non-video instructions that suit you best. One important thing: when you use the crank puller make sure (1) you have removed the crank bolt, and (2) the inner part of the puller is fully unwound, and the puller is fully screwed into the crank. Then...

Brake mods on an old tourer.

If you still have original wheels I'd check the rims for wear. And if the rims are steel I'd replace the wheels anyway. I've got Magura rim brakes on our Motus (step through hub gears). They work quite well; the rims are pretty robust for longer life. Powerful rim brakes cause quite a bit of...

    walk assist mode

Same on my Kingmeter; made more difficult by having a bell between the gears/brakes and the display. I agree it's awkward. I think it's a safety issue, to stop the bike running (walking?) away from you under power if you accidently let go for any reason.
