    From todays Sensemaker:

I guess if they buy dangerous enough batteries they can use the bikes a bit like fireships were used in the old days.

    V-Brakes grabbing question

Cable is as likely (or more) than the levers or brakes. Are the screws holding the brakes to the support properly tightened (not too much) and the support clean and properly lubricated?

    E-Bikes: The phenomenon, The Problem.

Yes, dogs with headphones is a major hazard. ... I agree that pedestrians can be very erratic; I know I am when I'm walking. If you ring as you approach a couple strategically placed to prevent passing on a widish shared patch they'll just swap over. Long dog leads are the biggest hazard...

The EBIKE Law that doesn't make ANY SENSE (and it DISCRIMINATES)

... and of course a Tesla is only a bicycle with four wheels powered by batteries.

    Most efficient travel

We were at a sculpture park leaving through an electric gate at the exit (quite some way from the park). A delivery driver had had to get out of his cab to open the gate. By the time he'd got back in the cab the gate decided it was time to close again, which it did over the cab door, trapping...

    Front 3 sprocket crankset change

We need more info. How many teeth on the current 3 sprocket crankset? Is the bike electric? If so is the drive front, mid or rear?

    E-Trike

Hard luck. Trikes are notoriously easy to turn over on corners if you aren't used to them. I believe those with two front wheels are a lot better in that regard than those with two rear wheels. I've never ridden either so second hand information.

Victoria Pendleton - levels of power too crude and abrupt

What you have is called a speed controller; what you want is called a current controller. Those are both variants of cadence sensor controllers; a torque controller is more sophisticated than even the current controller. Speed controllers are the simples and cheapest, which is why many fairly...

    Hailong batteries

Thank you. They do look good value; unfortunately they only seem to have a 48v battery (presumably what they use for their own conversions). Thanks; I'll do that.

    Hailong batteries

I'll probably need to replace the Hailong battery that came with our Woosh XF07 kit some time fairly soon; still OK but certainly not got the capacity it used to. It is a 13Ah battery, I'd probably replace with something larger. I can see there are at least 3 kinds of HL batteries, with the...

    Tyres which ones?

Definitely Marathon Plus (probably MTB version). We found a good deal for a friend; 26x2.1 at £23.50...

    Rear derailleur size

The stated ranges often allow for inappropriate big front to big rear gear setting. You'll almost certainly be OK with a few teeth bigger at the back as long as you are happy with some odd grindings if you (inadvertently or in an emergency) do go big to big.

For Sale Whyte Hybrid, Yose 350w, 36v 13ah £400 ono

Yes, that seems to be the issue; perhaps the site developers will have a look and fix it.

For Sale Whyte Hybrid, Yose 350w, 36v 13ah £400 ono

If you want to sell a bike, list it once. Maybe again after a week or so if you don't get any interest. If you want to irritate forum members, generate lots of identical posts. (or maybe it was the slightly odd forum software that meant you duplicated listings by mistake.)

GoPro 7 Hero Black: Best low light night settings for video capture of number plates while cycling

We always used to use VLC, but have been using Media Player Classic for some time. Mostly playback quality was the same, but under some situation (I forget the details) MPC played back with much better quality than VLC. MPC can be set up for very convenient frame forward/back which is helpful...

Suggestions for Cycle Route Planner ?

Our son swears by cycle.travel (https://cycle.travel/). He does much more extensive trips than we do.

    Totally bamboozled by tyre sizes.

As others have said, it looks as if you've got the right size. Try getting the first bead in all the way round, insert the inner and pump it up just a little. Then fit the second bead, being very carful not to pinch the inner. Marathon Plus are usually very tight to fit, but I did have one once...

    assist cut off ?

My first thought was battery, but OP did say he'd tried a different battery and it was the same. Maybe the second one was in bad shape too.

Help! What COMPLETELY LEGAL Ebike will get me up hills?

I suspect it was more a case that the relatives didn't care about legality than that they thought the bikes were legal. But I certainly agree it is a moral obligation on sellers to point out legality in very clear terms; and as many sellers have no moral sense there should be a much stronger...

Help! What COMPLETELY LEGAL Ebike will get me up hills?

I don't often seem to tick soundwave's posts, but certainly agree with this one.
