    Wisper Paint Codes?

Any competent car body shop can mix any colour you like to a 100% perfect match even allowing for colour fade through age. You won't get it in an aerosol though (and that's a bad idea anyway 'cos a metallic will look as flat as a fart unless it's a two-coat and properly baked/cured), and...

    Yose Power Triangle Battery Recall

It seems we're all qualified electricians here... you're applying the rules of domestic 240v AC installation to what is, in electricians speak, a low-voltage SELV DC application. Those BS7671 rules don't apply here. Even so, as you already know, fuses trip at different speeds, and these wires...

Raleigh Talus IE - Electric not working

It looks to me as if the Torque Sensor has been broken off when the chain came off. Good news is that it's a Suntour part, not specific to Raleigh. Spares are available on ebay here in the UK - you'd need to check your own US sources. Google "Suntour HESC Torque Sensor" and you should find the...

De restrict for off road use

But the Police would need just cause... either they measured the rider at an above acceptable speed, strongly suspected that, was riding in a pedestrian only precinct/on pavement, or he was riding like a total lunatic and putting others at risk. It'd be odd to just randomly stop someone who was...

De restrict for off road use

Yes, but you need to draw a line in the sand somewhere. 1.5mph over the limit is as illegal as 28mph. A standard needs to be enforced however trivial it may seem; If even 1.5mph can land you in trouble with the law, maybe that clamp-down and publicity provides a warning to the...

    BMS issue possibly

It very much depends on the year of manufacture. Early ones were made in China, later ones in different countries and were equipped with different batteries from different manufacturers. As Neal mentions, there's a sleep mode to save depletion when not being used. How you wake up the battery...

Battery Weight vs Range... a dilemma

What current limit are you running your BBS at? I know you also have "keep current" at 100% which for me (having tried) is too much/wasteful, and kill these current batteries in no time. IIRC mine's about 40% (I need to check) but that's fine for me. What battery capacity/cells/current settings...

Battery Weight vs Range... a dilemma

Thanks everyone for your inputs... all comments appreciated. The bike is in Norfolk (and I'm not at the moment), but next opportunity I have I'm going to link my bike back up to the Speeed App to re-check what the "current" (i.e. Amps) setting is and what that limit can be. IIRC, it had been...

Battery Weight vs Range... a dilemma

I don't know what the existing batteries weigh, but labouring under the misapprehension that a larger capacity battery might weigh a notable amount more, I didn't really want to permanently saddle this bike with that extra weight for my shorter/sub-25-mile rides. But 25-mile rides are quite...

Battery Weight vs Range... a dilemma

Ah, I stand corrected... 26F then,,, it's been 4 years since I opened one of the packs. 18650 pinkies though. I guess one battery of higher (double) capacity will logically be the best route to take.

Battery Weight vs Range... a dilemma

I hear you. But this bike is for good weather touring on Norfolk back roads. I do have a rack on another e-bike for commuting, but don't want a rack, panniers or mudguards etc - i.e. excess weight - on this one for the specific purpose this particular bike is being used for... it's dry weather...

Battery Weight vs Range... a dilemma

So, one of my e-bikes is powered by a 350w Bafang MaxDrive motor. It came with a 374Wh 10.4 Ah Samsung 29E Pinky celled battery pack which, then, was a respectable if mediocre cell... I bought a second at the same time which the dealer was keen to clear at £150... that was IIRC 2019? Anyway...

Giant energypak 500 battery self diagnostic test

If you're worried, you need to take it to your dealer to run a battery test. Giant offer silly guarantees of 1000 cycles to 80%, which IMHO can be optimistic given the abuse some put their batteries through, but even so, you'll likely be well covered if there's anything iffy with it.

    Merky bike E9

No point venting your spleen... You seem lucky to have received anything at all given that merkybikes website has now disappeared without trace. I'd be interested to know what persuades anyone to part with such a lump of money in the first place given the brand has no real history at all. Due...

    Help! Raleigh Strada TSE controller

I have an e-bike from Ebco that uses the same motor/battery/system from TranzX. The American division of Raleigh and others used the same system on a number of their e-bikes, and those had throttles fitted although US bikes had an uprated 350w version of the M16 motor to allow 20mph assist as...

    Battery deconstruction.

Take it to your Council tidy-tip/refuse collection point - they have the proper facilities for disposing of them properly. I don't know of any Council that won't accept them; they've taken everything from AA cells, through old Ni-Mh and Li-Ion tool batteries, and even a few old car/leisure...

Review Just joined. I am 79. Not ridden (normal bike) for last 8 years. Need more gentle exercise.

Funnily enough, Corratec distribution has been handled by Ebco in the UK AFAIK since forever... maybe that's where they got the inspiration for their own "not-folding mid-drive e-bike" from? The OP's Life model has been around a good few years now: It just looks a little strange to me though...

    Why Ride Rad?

We all think our own bikes look cool, don't we? Nobody is going to willingly buy a bike they think looks like a total dog unless they're really strapped for cash and it's all they can afford.

    Why Ride Rad?

I'm still not seeing any attraction to Riding Rad either. My 20" Fiido is less than half the weight (17.5kg stripped, 19kg with rack and all the bits and bobs attached), and half the price. If it were made of pig-iron, it'd likely still weigh less.

    Why Ride Rad?

I can't imagine cycling a 36kg bike with no gears and a legal 250 watt motor up a hill. The later Rad-Runner versions at least had gears (and suspension IIRC).
