    Sparking when withdrawing the battery

Following on from what Neal said above, it's a possibility that you bridged the prongs protruding from the other half of the folding frame when withdrawing the metal cased battery. That would effectively be shorting out the controller's capacitor. Although unlikely to cause any damage, it would...

    Battery life

I do much the same as you, except if I find I'm left with a fully charged battery with no prospect of using it imminently, I'll usually burn off that energy using a string of 12v halogen lamps to get it back down to about a 38v storage level. More recently though, it occurred to me that's...

    Battery life

I haven't measured the DC side, but I'm sure they are effectively shut off. The idle current measured is on the charger's AC input.

    Battery life

It depends on the charger/battery. One brand is <1w so shows 0, the other two are <2w. I read there was a Chinese EV (car) maker at the Paris motor show this year using "blade" batteries... i.e. you slide old ones out and new ones in, rather like changing AA batteries in a torch.

That company was wound-up in June 2022 (click here). Ironically, the trading address is exactly the same as ACCTEL given in post #7.

    Battery life

On the subject of cell balancing... I have three e-bikes all using different makes of batteries/chargers with five bike batteries in total. In all cases, the cells are still balancing long after the green LED comes on, consuming about 18w at that point, which drops to 0-2w when actually...

Battery for Devron 28120 E Bike

Cost: It says 14.5Ah Panasonic cells. Even so, the whole bike is only 1300 euros. I've never seen a four-pin connector on a Phylion pack until I just went looking for it (I wasn't even aware there was a revised SF-03 design). The 6-pin wiring config is above; 4-pins? Who knows. That it has a...

Battery for Devron 28120 E Bike

Hmm. Okay. I doubt that's Phylion then (or not one I recognise/one of their common ones). EDIT: Ignore that. The original SF-03 battery (uses the round notched 5-pin charger): The new SF-03 battery (uses the newer D-plug charger): You think this may be it? It looks it to me. Gird your...

    Help! Fiido X Q's (new to e-bikes)

Bicycleland and Vive were the two both in East London, although I think the later has now stopped trading (as others have done before). I'm not sure how any bricks-n-mortar retailer can hope to make a living selling a minimal margin direct to consumer product when the punter can buy the same...

Battery for Devron 28120 E Bike

Just to expand on this, here's the usual contact arrangement for Phylion batteries: Flecc's post #4 suggests your bike does use the smart BMS. If you find the centre 4 pins aren't connected, you could probably use a generic battery/rack as Nealh suggests in post #6.

Battery for Devron 28120 E Bike

That sounds plausible. Someone stole it, realised it was electric and worthless without the battery and abandoned it. In that case, as Nealh points out, later versions of similar Devron bikes still use the SF-03 battery, which has been around for donkeys years. My guess - and it is only a guess...

Battery for Devron 28120 E Bike

We've found here on the forum that an e-bike without a battery and/or a charger often means it's stolen. That may be why Devron won't talk to you.

Battery for Devron 28120 E Bike

If it's Phylion (we don't know), all styles are available with Smart BMS or not. On some bikes that matters; on others those comms aren't used and the smart provision is there only for a dealer to test battery cycles/wear. We've had users here replacing Phylion batteries without the smart...

Battery for Devron 28120 E Bike

Why don't you have the battery? Do you have the charger? If so, post a picture of the charger plug. Changing to an alternative battery/rack most probably won't work if the bike is wired to use comms from a battery fitted with a smart BMS.

Battery for Devron 28120 E Bike

I'm pretty sure Devron are a Romanian company making bikes in Romania (i.e. not Italian), although IIRC Devron are part of a larger group who may be Italian. Devron as a brand are really common in many parts of Europe. From what I've seen Devron use Phylion batteries, and that looks to me like...

    New on the forum

I don't know - it's what they state in their prospectus. It doesn't produce, it's simply buffer storage; more being built (see their interactive map of existing and proposed sites). The Scottish rely heavily on hydo. It's not the only cluster of energy storage facilities in the UK. I'm only...

    Fiido D11 Folding e-bike - A sort of review

That was the specific purpose for which the bike was bought. I have other e-bikes for leisure. I've covered this elsewhere, but broadly my commute is a 2 mile cycle to station, Thameslink train into London, 2 mile cycle across London, then Greater Anglia train out to Norfolk, then a 4 mile...
