Help! Bafang kit fitted, pedal stripped thread.

That happens when you don't fully tighten the pedal in the arm. It has be pretty tight otherwise there's a microscopic amount of movement in the thread, As you keep pedalling, the movement wears the thread, making it looser and looser until the thread is insufficient to hold the pedal in, then...

Where can I get a compatible replacement handlebar display for a Pendleton Somerby ebike? (King Meter 790 LED)

I think you might have misunderstood the point. He needs to determine whether his display is analogue or digital. 4 wires are definitely analogue 5 wires with a light switch can be either, so you have to look at the markings on the pcb either in the controller of display 5 wires without a...

Where can I get a compatible replacement handlebar display for a Pendleton Somerby ebike? (King Meter 790 LED)

A standard analogue one without light switch has 4 wires. The only way to know which version is to open it up, unless there are only 4 wires in the cable.

    DIY Battery Calc

Just in case you didn't realise it, amp-hours don't have a constant value. An amp hour when the battery is flat is only worth 75% of one when the battery is full. The 3.7v is only thenominal cell voltage. They're 4.2v when full and 3.1v when empty, so at a constant current, power is only 75%...

Where can I get a compatible replacement handlebar display for a Pendleton Somerby ebike? (King Meter 790 LED)

The question was how many wires, not how many pins! 790 is normally 4 wires or 5 if it has the light switch, but I'm not sure if there are digital versions that have 5 wires. Is it possible to open it up to see what's connected?

    Which mid-drive would be best?

At 55kg, you don't need much power. What kit to fit depends a lot on the donor bike. Do you have oneyet, If so, show photos.

    Problems on throttle and motors

The throttle signal works between 1.2v (zero throttle) and 3.8v (ma throttle). What voltage do you have on that wire when you switch on? Are the 5v and throttle ground remaining disconnected on that controller? You get that sort of problem when you don't have a common ground. Are you sure that...

    Chinese ebike speed deestriction

It's a KT controller. The white wire is where it gets the speed signal from. It should be connected to the motor, which should have a speed sensor inside it. If there's no speed sensor in the motor, then you should use an external wheel magnet type. The spee limit is set in the software, and in...

My other motor may be faulty part 2

Make sure that there's no nut on the other end of the axle, then tap the axle through with a big mallet. Once you have the whole core out, you can rest the side-plate on blocks abd tap the core out with a mallet on that end of the axle.

Rear hub and rear rack mounted battery, too much in the tail?

Some rack batteries are not designed very well and overhang the back wheel, so always check that in the pictures. Most are adjustable, but when you bring the battery forward, it tilts the batteru up at the back. That's not functionally bad, but some people don't like the look. Whatever you do...

UK legal rear hub conversion kit for road bike

You need a cassette motor, and I'd be wanting to fit a very light motor on a light weight road bike. The LCDs normally have adapters to alow for both sizes of handlebars, but always check. You cam use strips of inner tube or hoze pipe to make your own adapters. If you want assistance above the...

My other motor may be faulty part 2

You need a hot air gun and a special tool. Heat up the hub between the spokes until it's just too hot to touch, then unscrew the side-plate that's facing upwards on the RH motor in your photo. If you don't have the tool, you can get it off by whacking an M5 cap screw. Draw a pencil line across...

    Replacement controller for Wisper 705SE

All you need to do is unsolder the problematic wires from the PCB, then solder a short across where the red and blue wires aaaaare soldered. Make sure you get the red that carries battery voltage and not one of the 5v reds. Obviously, the 5v reds only have 5v when the red and ble are bridged.

Thinking of going the 48v route will 12.5 ah be big enough for modest journeys? With 750wbafan

For the 750w Bafang, you need a battery capable of delivering 20A continuously. Without looking up the spec, I'm pretty sure that the Yose one is 15A. You should check.

    Swytch Battery

For most Chinese stuff, you have to switch on the charger before plugging in so that the charge lead is near the voltage of the battery. If you don't switch it on first, you get sparks and a risk of blowing a fuse. The first thing you have to do is get a meter to check the voltage on the...
