    TopBikeKit ordering problem

Why don't you give them your tax reference number? You do pay tax, don't you?

Furo X or Gron E Cycle

The most important thing is that you buy a bike with a ubiquitous electrical system. Circumstances change and dealers come and go. If you have a bespoke system that only one dealer sells within 100 miles of you, you can end up with a very expensive garden trellis, as many forum members have...

Rear axle nut external size on Bafang BFSWX02?

A normal ring spanner often doesn't fit on the derailleur side. Also, you have the cable to contend with. I can't think of any reason why you'd need to take the wheel off during a ride, so why do you think you need to carry a spanner?

Rear axle nut external size on Bafang BFSWX02?

I don't understand the big mystery. All you have to do is measure one with a ruler, then you can tell us what it is.

    Review Pinnacle Mercury 2021

What sort of pedal sensor does it have? How quickly does it respond (run-on)? The difference in customer care is the Mirider selling a £500 bike for £1500 and Evans selling an £1100 bike for £1100. The extra £1000 profit on the Mirider pays for a lot of help.

    Swytch on the beach

He was riding on the wet sand below the tide line, not the prom. If you'd seen the bikes that I had to repair after the owners did that once (suposedly), you wouldn’t be saying that. One more time: Don't take an electric bike onto the wet sand by the sea.

Aldi have some decent bikes in that would make for good conversions

The MTB has the stupid modern tiny chain wheel in one of the photos, so might not be suitable for either hub or crank motor. It looks like a different one in the close-up.

    Swytch on the beach

It's not worth the risk. Salt water is very corrosive to most parts of the bike. The worst thing is that it gets into crevices and dries out. The remaining crystals are hygroscopic. Whenever the air is damp, they absorb moisture and start their corrosion again. This can go on for years. IMHO...

    Ebike yose power failure

It's normally the LCD that gets water in it. Before ordering the new controller, you should have tested running it with the LCD by-passed. I hope you ordered the LCD with your controller because there are two types of controller that look and fit the same, but they each have their own LCD...

Rear axle nut external size on Bafang BFSWX02?

I think there are three different sizes. I've definitely seen both 18mm and 19mm, and I think I've seen 17mm too or maybe 20mm. I can remember cursing when I had to keep changing spanners when swapping motors. You'll have to see which spanner fits or measure them. The drawing shows corner to...

    Drilling for oil ( Hydraulic)

Hold on. Before you do anything: The motor only rotates in one direction. When you put the wheel in the forks the correct way for the forward rotation, the brake is on the left side. If those holes are on the right, you're out, otherwise OK.

    Help! Tech assistance please

I'd need to see all the wiring to be sure. Some controllers have two wires that reverse direction when connected/disconnected. Some controllers have a self-learning procedure that reverses direction each time you do it. Some controllers have auto-recognition and setting. With those, there's...

    Will thicker wire be better?

When you run at higher currents, you get voltage drop in thin wires. Thicker wire just means more efficiency, so won't do any harm.

New Member, in need of help with a controller.

It doesn't matter where you buy stuff from. It still ends up in the main UK distribution centres and follows the same route from there to your house. Every time I bought one of these controllers, no matter where from (China, Germany, UK), they're always delivered by the postman (Royal mail)...

It's Chinese, not American. Wish is Chinese too in case you didn't now. What does it matter where you buy stuff from? Are you racist to Americans?

    Is this all I need?

You can fit the 8 and 10 pole PASs to either side. You need to fit a BB lock ring on the left side to clamp the sensor. If you go with your chosen PAS and you plan to use your bike in all weathers, maybe buy an extra one as a spare while they're cheap. Now that I think about it, I don't think...
