5 years old, time for new bike?

From the sound of it your current bike still works as it should but has just been well used. I would tend to keep a bike like that until the battery or motor reach the end of their useful life or something breaks that due to the defeat technology you cannot easily fix. With any bike you have to...

Folding 20" bike that also rolls

I think the stipulation for putting a bike on a train at any time is that it does fold. I don't think there is any size stipulation. I have seen people with 26" wheel bikes that fold, and are allowed on a rush hour train. Obviously check with the train company where that you intend to use.

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

Being honest in respect of the post above, riding that far with very few breaks in eco and off and with a lot of climbing and off road meant I was pretty knackered afterwards. So yes it is possible, but for me it would only be something to do occasionally, or when needs must. nice to know you...

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

Exploring the limits of my seven and a half year old bike and battery...... I woke up this morning feeling the need for some exercise. I had an excuse, wanting to drop of a birthday present and card to a mate's house, and rather than post it, decided to drop it at his house by bike. This...

Help! Cannot find a bike for someone my size in UK at all!

All credit Ally_WS for coming on an open internet forum to ask our advise. Don't overthink it now that there is quite a lot of advise. Increasing your activity levels however you do it is the right thing to be doing, starting gently, but trying to do it regularly. I am no expert but for a...

Grant Shapps seems unlikely to be in a Liz Truss Cabinet, according to pundits.

Is it possible to convert an 8 speed 11-32T to 10-32T?

When I was commuting to work cross country and then back on the road late at night I wanted to try and average 20mph for my 10 mile journey home on the road. However I still needed a low enough bottom gear for climbing the steepest off road track I used on the way to work. I rode a Haibike Crank...

    Durable Mountain/City Bike around £2000-3000.

On my Haibike I have found re-chargeable lights work very well with little hassle. I have a Yamaha system where lights can be enabled but have never bothered. You need to check but somewhere I remember seeing that the power of light you can use if you fit fixed lights is more a be seen light...

I do carry all the things you need to mend a tubeless puncture as well as a spar tube if all else fails, so might just carry on. The Has Dampf gravity tyre seems to tough as old nails anyway!

Tubeless, Sealant life On the 12th of October last year I changed the rear tyre from a worn out Vittoria Mota G+ 2.35 to a Schwalbe Hans Dampf 2.35 and added new Muc-Off tyre sealant. The previous Vittoria tyre was put on in October 2020 and run tubeless (my first experience of a tubeless set...

Bearing Play Note to soundwave. On your advise I did speak to Peter at performance line bearings, and he was generally reassuring, not advising me to get the motor overhauled straight away, he told me to check the play on the main bearing by flexing the chain ring rather than the pedal arm...

    Cameras for safety & insurance

Are there statistics that show the differences in the fatality figures for different regions of the UK? Is Scotland worse than elsewhere? One anomaly of the new legislation about the gap cars should leave when overtaking a bike is that some cars now will not overtake me until they can leave a...

    Cameras for safety & insurance

You my have one, but a rear view mirror and keeping an eye on it, coupled with good defensive riding can be a life saver. One day commuting home from work in the afternoon halfway up a long hill I saw a car in the distance at the bottom of the hill in my mirror going crazy fast and accelerating...

    Durable Mountain/City Bike around £2000-3000.

It may have been said above, and also may not be as easy now as when I bought my two bikes, one back in 2011, and the other in 2015, but I took the time to seek out the bikes I had short listed and test ride them. As a newbie back then in 2011 I test rode a Panasonic crank drive Kalkhoff that I...

Help! Cannot find a bike for someone my size in UK at all!

That muddy fox looks a cheap starting point and as recommended needs a stronger wheel set. Also probably a good idea to put hydraulic brakes on, and that may or may not be possible/easy/difficult with that frame. Then a crank or front wheel kit. Brighton Bikes have been recommended for fitting...

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

Range, home on the range.... I had a lovely ride yesterday with my son. He on the Old Nag (Oxygen Emate City of 2011 vintage), and me on my Haibike Yamaha 2015. We rode 22 miles, mostly off road, but with a little road work to get to the first track. I tend to ride behind my son and find that...

Country Lanes are 3x More Dangerous (Sunday Times)

I got tooted yesterday as I was riding just outside the line of the worst and cheapest type of cycle lanes, a painted line on a cambered 40 mph road where the portion designated for the cyclist is where the camber dips to the curb and has cracked tarmac and lots of debris. I just carried on and...

The original battery, now in its eighth year, and a motor that was replaced when the bike was two years old, under warranty and free of charge. The first motor completed 6,000 miles and the second one is now over 10,000 miles.

Bike Ride, Walk, Bike Ride, Sandwich Brilliant day of exercise and fun yesterday. An 18 mile ride to my good friends house, with the majority enjoying fantastic off road tracks and great scenery with in places far reaching views. Then a walk with two good friends around the lovely countryside...
