    Battery life

I think cost comes into it. The cheapish (£165 .62 delivered including a charger) 15Ah Yose silverfish battery that I bought in March this year is working well and hopefully of decent enough quality not to be a fire risk. It lives on one of my rear hub bikes in my attached garage and is...

As I think someone else mentioned having a 9 speed transmission on my Haibike means that replacing worn out bits is much more reasonable than systems with more gears. Back before this inflation malarkey when I was commuting regularly a 24 mile round trip to work and back, 14 mostly off road to...

Most of the battery fixtures in your pictures are in the direct line of fire for for crud from the wheels. I also like mudguards to cover a lot more of the wheel than those. Huge gaps at both the front and back which you would really notice when it was wet.

The most important thing for public transport is that it complies to their rule for peak time travel, ie that it folds. Although the bulk of folding bikes being put on trains are of the Brompton type, as someone who has spent a lot of time on peak time trains, I have also seen the standard bike...

Now I see, its not a cut and shut design like The Woosh. I use my rear rack and would need to put the battery somewhere else without there being many obvious possibilities.

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

Nice Day for a ride First bit on the road to The Post Office . I noticed that my display changed from miles per hour to km per hour, and remembered that this is an early sign of the battery in the display needing changing. Then a bit of country lane to get me to the start of my off road route...

I agree Andy that it would be quite simple to provide a heavier duty chain, chain ring and rear cassette design with perhaps as few as seven widely spaced gears. After all motor bike chains hardly ever break and suffer the same single point of failure potential that you highlight. For...

I agree Nealh. My Haibike Yamaha was the cheapest entry level bike that Haibike offered back in 2015. There were other Haibikes using the same motor system that were a magnitude of thousands more, probably as much as four times more expensive for the top of the range full suspension Haibike...

Andy always seems to make his arguments in a combative style. There are pros and cons to both systems. I own both, and really like both and appreciate their different attributes. The can bus systems built into mostly the purpose built crank drive bikes serve nobody else but the manufacturer...

    Old Nag

Night Out I had arranged to go with friends to see Raynor Winn and the Gigspanner Big Band at a venue in Farnham. On the Thursday of that week I had taken the motor of my Haibike down to Peter at Performance line bearings to have it refurbished. The gig was the next day and the weather was nice...

    Server move

Yesterday and today I found longer threads, Nealh Yosepower hub kits and my very long ongoing review of my Haibike Yamaha would not load for me, and loading has never been a problem before. Going onto my own profile and trying to load a selection of my posts would not work.

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

Ullo John! Gotta New Motor? Well after a bit of nudging by soundwave and some careful flexing of the chain ring by my good self that was starting to show the beginning of play as well as some noises that I had not heard before and sounded like worn cogs to me I decided the time had arrived...

Nothing is built to last anymore. However my Henry vacuum cleaner is still going! I am a child of the cold war but the world feels more divisive and dangerous now than it did when I was a kid.

From my perspective there are too many negative articles appearing about cycling in general as well as ebikes. It may die down but they keep popping up. I said in another thread, "In a post Covid era of Big Government, with politicians interfering more and more in an individuals life, jumping...

Thanks Nealh, I am definitely getting old enough to be a leg end! josh42ad, we did not take any pictures when we opened up the battery. A fellow American posted on my Yamaha Battery/Charger Problem thread, spiwrx, who made a neater repair than my friend and I, and also took some pictures, and...

    Pondering on motor power ...

When I bought my Haibike Yamaha hard tail in 2015 the owner of the business steered me towards the Bosch powered Haibike hard tail, by saying that the Yamaha motor was new to Haibike that year and little was known about it in comparison to the Bosch motor. In fairness to him, his shop had run a...
