Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

Snow ride in March Quite a lot of exercise as I rode 15 miles to my friends house mostly off road cross country in the snow, and then home again on the road, with a 8 ish mile walk in between with my friends. Though a nice pub lunch in the middle of the walk as well. Lovely ride in the...

    Yamaha motor removal

Some pictures showing the electrical connections when my motor was taken out to send to Performance Line bearings. The non drive side crank arm would not come off, but performance line bearings said this was common and they have all the tools to do that job. I found performance line bearings to...

    Oxygen emate 3 months later....

Finding a bike shop that will work on electric bikes can be difficult. Ideally you might go to a bike shop with a service department that sells geared rear hub motored electric bikes. If this is not possible look for a good independent bike shop and have a chat with them. However, putting a...

    Oxygen emate 3 months later....

ricoghardforth, I am sure there is no reason why a 2015 Oxygen Emate MTB might not have survived, like yours, however I fear some discard them rather than fix them, which is a shame, as they are more easily fixed than the purpose built ones with defeat software. I still have my Emate city road...

Whats wrong with my Brose ebike motor. Common issues and what to look for.

I don't have a Brose motor but those seals for keeping water out should really be on a new motor to start with, for as we know. almost whatever crank drive motor you have, keeping water out as much as possible is essential for longevity.

    27.5 bad for road use?

All mechanical things at some point wear out or need to be repaired. The purpose built bike industry has a real issue over the support it provides for the motor and battery, sometimes inside the warranty, and more often after the two year warranty has expired. That said the dealer I bought my...

Mid-drive chain and drive train wear measurements

My drive train gets more neglected than others in this thread perhaps with the exception of guerney. I use Muc Off wet lube. My Haibike Hard tail is off road every ride, so doused in all sorts every ride. The Muc off wet lube stays on longer than others in the conditions I ride in. There is a...

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

Ride, Dinner at Friends, Music Concert, Wild Return Ride Home...30 miles in total 17.0000 miles now under the wheels..... An epic evening started with a ride on my Haibike to my friends house, with the first half off road, and then with time running out to get to my friends house at the agreed...

    Short Commuter Advice

There is a huge thread about Yosepower hub kits that look good for what you have in mind to convert a bike. Otherwise a geared rear hub electric bike like the Woosh Gran-Camino. You don't mention gradients. Downhill most electric bikes will exceed 25 mph easily. As the gradient increases even...

    27.5 bad for road use?

I was chatting to a local independent bike mechanic today who thought now was a very good time to buy a bike. He talks to local bike dealers and according to him they are holding a lot of stock on the basis that the boom in cycling during lock down would continue. He also said that a lot of...

    27.5 bad for road use?

Probably a bit cynical, but the plethora of new wheel size, latest greatest thing etc, particularly in Mountain Bikes is predominantly a way to sell a lot of very similar bikes all over again!

    Bike on Fire!

I think I was lucky to have enjoyed 11 years of ebike commuting prior to my retirement. I was able to charge the batteries of either my rear hub Oxygen emate silverfish battery or my Yamaha Haibike battery in a room at work. It could be that employers simply put a blanket ban on...

    Bike on Fire!

Not many do go wrong, and it appears to be the home built cheaper type that feature in the majority recorded, but they are always a sobering sight, as there is a lot of energy stored in these batteries.

Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha (7 Month 1600 Miles)

The best laid plans of mice and men........... After a week away I decided to ride The Haibike cross country to Farnham to catch a train to Alton and ride to meet friends at a friends house before a walk. I have been remarkably lucky not to be stranded by The Haibike too often, but I do use...

    FreeGo Eagle Upgrades

I have two air shocks, The Suntour on The Haibike, and a Rockshox on a acoustic hard tail bike that gets very little use now, but still the occasional ride with friends also on acoustic bikes. As far as I can tell the air element is a bit like pre-load and to make allowance for the weight of the...

    FreeGo Eagle Upgrades

Let it go Bonzo! As you have said you don't even have front fork suspension. I should be writing your posts as I do have a Suntour fork. It has been durable and very good for an entry level fork. It came with my £1,750 bike and combined air adjustment for my weight and oil damping. Nearly...

    FreeGo Eagle Upgrades

Driving with an entitled belief whatever you drive, although certain car makes seem to have more than their far share, is not generally the safest way to drive and certainly not for us mere cyclists!

    FreeGo Eagle Upgrades

One small insignificant broken bone in my hand that added a decent amount to my personal injury claim and some nasty gravel rash. It was summer and I was in shorts and a T shirt. So I was sort of lucky, it could have been a lot worse. I went over the car.

    FreeGo Eagle Upgrades

My own version of a badger was an Audi that turned right into a side road that I had almost reached riding in the opposite direction. There was nowhere to go, just hit the brakes and then a moment later the car. ouch.

    FreeGo Eagle Upgrades

In my years of ploughing back home in the dark on my B road commute I have had a few badgers dart out from the hedge at the side and scurry across in front of me. They are quite big animals with a low centre of gravity and I am pleased I never hit one. On one sharp downhill bit of road I would...
