Sunny and Warm Off Road Commute to Work

This is my second Yamaha motor as the first one developed play in the bearings right at the end of the two year warranty, but the dealer I bought from was very good and replaced it free of charge. I think the bearings on the first motor began to wear because of water ingress, and I think that...

Sunny and Warm Off Road Commute to Work

Sounds like the latest version of your motor is quite a bit more powerful than my 2015 Yamaha. https://www.brightonebikes.co.uk/store/p112/Bafang%C2%AE_BBS01B-ETM_36V_250W_motor_kit_%28DPC-18_display%29_with_Samsung_35E_cell_36V_14Ah_downtube_battery.html

Sunny and Warm Off Road Commute to Work

I am not light and The Haibike is not a lightweight bike and I carry full panniers. My 2015 Yamaha motor is supposed to produce 60nm of torque which back in 2015 when I bought it was a very competitive figure and slightly more than the Bosch motor of that time. My bike is not geared for top...

The tale of a £100 second hand electric bike.

Well they have either disabled the weight sensor or raised it to a point that I no longer trigger it, so I cannot now get the electric gates to open. However, getting through the second kissing gate was easier than I expected after being forced to do so yesterday and today. So I now have two...

Sunny and Warm Off Road Commute to Work

I moved to Surrey with my previous job and live in one Surrey Town and commute to another. On the road they are 10 miles apart. I started commuting on the road using a 2011 Oxygen rear hub cadence sensor bike, but I have always liked mountain biking so I started adding easy off road tracks...

Sunny and Warm Off Road Commute to Work

I look at forecasts, riding to work and back regularly as I do, and I had noticed that our mini heat wave down south was happening when Scotland and Northern Ireland were getting Rain. It does happen the other way round as well though.

Sunny and Warm Off Road Commute to Work

Just wondered if anyone else has been out on their bikes enjoying the unseasonably warm weather. I am a shift worker on late turn at the moment and have had the same job two days running, meaning setting off for work at around 11:45. Yesterday I finished at 22:46, but today was lucky to finish...

    Used Yamaha or Bosch?

I am not sure I would buy any out of warranty Bosch or Yamaha system bike as there is no support at all from the manufacturer or dealerships. So if something goes wrong with the motor or battery or anything else you need to be able to fix it yourself or find a third party who can. That is a...

What do you do to prevent theft of your e-bikes/battery?

I think Dutch people do the same. If they get a new bike, the first thing they do is make it look very second hand. I have an old Emate City from 2011 that looks very sad but actually works a treat and looking sad combined with a good D lock has proved to be a good theft deterrent so far. If I...

Help! Bosch 400Wh battery sudden death

Even if the cycle shop are pulling a fast one you are still getting a brand new battery at half price.

    EZEGO Commute INT

Quite a lot of people post when they need help with their bikes, so it is great that you are not, and having great fun to boot. I bought my first electric bike in 2011 and still have it and enjoy riding it. I have found my electric bikes really good and use them for a lot of errands and...

Help! Bosch 400Wh battery sudden death

Nothing good about these locked down systems that stop or make it very difficult for you to repair them. I have a Haibike with a Yamaha crank drive system that is tough and well made and I have had good usage out of. I bought it to open up the possibility of an off road commute to work, and for...

Not a great start with e-bikes. Chain continually jumps off the front sprocket.

I appreciate this particular horse has bolted, and depending on where you live it can be hard to achieve, but buying from a local dealer where you can easily take the bike back to if you get teething problems can be very helpful. I bought my Haibike Yamaha crank drive bike in 2015 from a...

Not a great start with e-bikes. Chain continually jumps off the front sprocket.

Always best to identify and sort out the underlying problem. I tight link in the chain, or badly set up derailleur. Hopefully the chain should be the right length but you would not want it too long. When you are sure its all set up properly a narrow wide chain ring is in my opinion much more...

    Trigger Bell

A vote from me for the tring tring traditional bike bell. Mine is from Halfords and cost a fiver and has actually lasted very well so far, several years and counting. Dirt cheap but works. As VFR said, pedestrians just seem to be much more attuned to the traditional tring tring sound. I have...

Not a great start with e-bikes. Chain continually jumps off the front sprocket.

Obviously finding the course would be the best thing to do. However my 2015 Haibike Sduro Yamaha hard tail mountain bike that came with a rudimentary chain guide would very occasionally drop the chain and then do so more often when the drive train was worn but stopped dropping the chain...

    Moustache Samedi 28.5

Those Moustache bikes look good and you should have great fun on them. I only posted about your cable locks because I would not want you to have either of your lovely bikes nicked and although cable locks look good, generally the cables can be cut really easily.

    Moustache Samedi 28.5

With two nice new bikes I would not rely on a cable lock. I know they are heavy but a good ulock is what I use. A longer style rather than the short ones so that you have a chance to secure to something.

Help! Cheap batteries ali express etc

I bought one of these for my 2011 Oxygen Emate. I am heavy and on full assist 15 miles is about as far as it would go, but I bought it nearly three years ago, it came with a charger and is still working very well. However I paid about £185 when I bought mine, but everything goes up. As...

    Yamaha Battery/Charger Problem

Hi all with Yamaha battery/charger connector problems. Update on how mine are doing now almost three years post repair. I started this thread to document a potential disaster when a small metal pin connector at the battery where the charger plugs in broke, and meant I could not charge the...
