Linear have heavy transformers, are not as efficient as you appear to believe, so I have added a web site with the relevant data and comparison for you. A properly design SMPS charger or power supply, will run at a very high efficency, wasting very little power. Wasted power in a poorly designed...

I myself only buy chargers that are SMPS or Swiched Mode Power Supplies, as they are usually high(er) efficiency, with only a very low level of wasted power, so the tend to run comparitavely cool anyway. Chargers that get very hot, will probably NOT be SMPS types.. For anyone wanting to know...

Interesting and thanks. Most of the e-bikes here where I live are probably 95% Bosch, some happy owners, some not, but its mainly only the "weekends when its sunny and warm" riders..... Rest of the time they use the car to travel about a mile to the next township!!! Really wasted money! regards...
