Help! considering first battery rebuild ,beginner needs advice

My advice is not to try and rebuild the battery, either get a professional company to do the work, or bite the bullet for a new battery, and take better care of it. If you continue to try and repair it yourself, increase your house and contents insurance, and buy the best safety gear around for...

Has anyone tried laser tail lights, which project red lines on the road?

Very true, but the main thing that I learned, and still use today, is "reading the road". This is probably the largest single part of the driving, that is, you have a qualified police driver sitting beside you and while driving, you have to say loudly, all your observations, including people on...

    Help! Hopper Replacement Ignition Key

Did you check if the previous owner simply forgot to give them to you? It does not appear to be a lock that I have seen, but careful use of a thin router bit, cutting equally either end of the slit, should "let out" all the tiny bits, and then you can switch it on and off with a large flat...

Ebike Chargers running too hot -- a solution .

If its any help, I myself always plump for SMPS types for any power supply or charger that I buy, but over about 20 years, not a single one has failed up to now. The SMPS chips are pretty refined, and for large manufacturers, cheap to buy in 1,000 and above quantities....Making the end product...

    I rode a hog and I liked it :)

Looks great, and anyone could buy two and have every spare part, and a second battery, right to hand!!! It will probably attract a lot of sensible buyers I feel, as well as cutting into the sales of almost every other e-bike! regards Andy PS. They appear to have several larger modely, up to...

Has anyone tried laser tail lights, which project red lines on the road?

I don't see that as a problem as most police officers are highly trained drivers, and I suspect that they will not simply tread on the faster pedal, and ignore what they are seeing......They will simply slow down! regards Andy PS. After leaving the RN in in 1973, I took a police driving course...

    dead mobility scooter help

Good point! The best batteries around nowadays! Also, an almost full set of spare parts, just missing the bit that is actually defective! regards Andy

Ebike Chargers running too hot -- a solution .

Linear have heavy transformers, are not as efficient as you appear to believe, so I have added a web site with the relevant data and comparison for you. A properly design SMPS charger or power supply, will run at a very high efficency, wasting very little power. Wasted power in a poorly designed...

Ebike Chargers running too hot -- a solution .

I myself only buy chargers that are SMPS or Swiched Mode Power Supplies, as they are usually high(er) efficiency, with only a very low level of wasted power, so the tend to run comparitavely cool anyway. Chargers that get very hot, will probably NOT be SMPS types.. For anyone wanting to know...

Looks very impressive, all of it. Thanks for sharing. regards Andy

Ebike Chargers running too hot -- a solution .

For the reasons you have already mentioned, I bought a relatively cheap charger (2 amp, as more runs the risk of a shortened battery life!), but with a built in tiny ventilator. On ebay I believe..... It was no more expensive than the ones without, and it basically runs for hours "stone...

Driver passes too close despite lollipop on passing side

Speaking ONLY for myself, in the 41 years I have lived here, using bikes at the weekend when I worked, and the whole week since I retired in early 2006, yes, German car drivers seem to give more room to cyclists. I do not know of anyone ho has been hit while riding either, though I see news...

Question on smoothness of power output of electric motor - Wisper 705SE

The sheer number of hub bikes sold, which forms 77% of the market, does imply, even if the same percentage of problems for each ty, that there will be far more hub bikes affected. But as they are generally simpler, parts cheaper, that is still not the case, but some get mislead into thinking...

Has anyone tried laser tail lights, which project red lines on the road?

At night, they might make some car drivers take a far wider path around you. They look good. Let us know. Regards Andy

Driver passes too close despite lollipop on passing side

No, and not even close. They wait till there is no opposing traffic..... Maybe because I usually have a big dog with me (Weimaraner), but on the pathway side of course. I do tend when on roads, to ride on wide ones, that may help.... regards Andy

    Battery lock

Maybe a lockable key cabinet (well away from front door and all windows!), maybe with a keypad, so no key to lose! regards Andy PS. If it helps, check the fridge and freezer, I have found my wife's keys in such places, several times!!! Move everything around while looking....

Question on smoothness of power output of electric motor - Wisper 705SE

Dear AndyBike, thanks for your thoughts, but speaking generally about Pedelec, the main problems seem to be with high usage mid motors on pedelec, detailing their short lived chains and other gear components. There are a bundle of such problems. So, guessing only, you must be on other web sites...

Question on smoothness of power output of electric motor - Wisper 705SE

Interesting and thanks. Most of the e-bikes here where I live are probably 95% Bosch, some happy owners, some not, but its mainly only the "weekends when its sunny and warm" riders..... Rest of the time they use the car to travel about a mile to the next township!!! Really wasted money! regards...

    Battery lock

They are usually easy to pick and then replace the cylinder, with a new one. Or get a very hard router head, and using a Dremel, route away the part with the pins, so that you can turn the cylinder and unlock it. You did not supply a piacturer, so I am guessing that you have a style of...
