    Interesting BMW ebike proposals

I remember that, but it was also mentioned that a (sudden) side collision, or just skidding, with the bike landing on its side suddenly, would possible damage an unprotected head and if ridden without good gloves, possibly at least one hand too..... A school friend of mine, around 1962 on his...

    Interesting BMW ebike proposals

The perfect post! I also cannot see the advantages of such an e-bike. But I am perfectly happy if it eventually becomes available, just for those with more money than sense, let them buy it.... Maybe BMW will name it after some animal, the "White Elephant" name springs to mind! Many thanks for...

Unplugging the battery BRICKS this device; you MUST go back to the manufacturer

You missed an important point (again!), I was talking generally, and mostly about my wife, and I still have the family jewels, even at 75! Though today many women are technically superior to men (my youngest for example), and only need someone to point them in the right direction, which I...

    Ebike light wiring ideas

Then if you want to use the turn signal 72 volts, to operate a relay to switch the 12 volts for the new turn signals, that's an easy fix. It may even be ok to make your own by wrapping wire around these:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/193790657034?hash=item2d1ed2c20a:g:JGcAAOSwV~lf0Jr4 With 72...

Unplugging the battery BRICKS this device; you MUST go back to the manufacturer

Let me guess, you possibly own a mid motor bike? Is it a Bosch? Failures that you pick out, except for the odd puncture, I have never had in over 60 years of bike riding! I do not consider any to be SPOF problems. So they really do not play a part in normal bike riding for me personally!! One...

    Ebike light wiring ideas

What is 12 volt on your bike and what is 72 volts? Relays are no problem really, as long as they do not sit outside in the weather.... Think of them as a switch, that gets operated by electricity, to switch other electrical things on and off! regards Andy

Unplugging the battery BRICKS this device; you MUST go back to the manufacturer

You try telling that to my wife, or in fact most wives, they are most likely going to try to emasculate you! (But my wife already knows the Bosch problems, so would never ride or buy one!) After a long walk home, with or without links, tools, lights, rain clothing, they will still try to put...

Unplugging the battery BRICKS this device; you MUST go back to the manufacturer

We ALL need to make sure that the "WORD" gets out about Bosch and similar products. I have mentioned it here before and received some Bosch (un)friendly joshing from the folks on Pedelec with too little brain, when I last mentioned it, but after WW2, the common name used to describe anything...

    Ebike light wiring ideas

DIY? The leave the old turn signals where they are and add some LED ones say to the end of the handlebars, maybe add them to right and left hand mirrors. Run wiring carefully from the old ones maybe. Remember, the farther out they are, the more likely they are to get knocks/damaged. Let us see...

Bosch takes the L on right to repair for ebikes

I agree with most of your comments, but NOT selling online in today's modern market place, is always going to cost a business money. How much is the next unanswered question? Look at how over the last 20 years or so, just how many huge market names have "gone to the wall" because they refused...

From "the Lockpicking Lawyer" - Locksmith Says My Videos Are BS... Loses $75

This demonstrates exactly why 2, at least, Bike locks should be employed!! And why Kryptunite locks are not quite as good as their reputation, but of course, many others are even easier to open or cut!! Remember Guys, two locks and an alarm system, MIGHT save your e-bike!! regards to all Andy

Brilliant and SO TRUE! This should be required reading for all newcomers to the e-bike scene! Many thanks for posting. regards Andy

Very well put! And an important guidance for any newcomers researching for an e- bike on Pedelec. The truth will out! regards Andy

Bosch takes the L on right to repair for ebikes

I simply don't agree that bike shops will close, as not everyone will be able to repair them, because even when I was a kid (a long time ago!), bike shops that did a good job for a fair price, always had a good business. If I may change your quote slightly, "Poor quality, and shady bike shops...

Stripping a battery to test it

The BMS is supposed to do just that....keep the groups in balance, usually by bleeding off some power from the cels that charge to a higher voltage. That is why they are built into e-bike batteries. But some do waste some energy, due to the design/method used.... The voltages fully charged you...

Stripping a battery to test it

Good question but with some possibly unfortunate answers for you, here are a few pertinent points for you. If you are inquiring to see if you can repair/replace some cells, you will be just throwing your money away. All cells have to be identical, and I mean identical, and all replaced at the...

    Hub Motor and Wheel Size/Diameter

Actually, you still misunderstand how speed is changed on modern e-bikes. Let me tell you just one more time:- The Battery voltage is NOT affected/changed IN ANY WAY AS YOU SEEM TO IMAGINE, IN A MODERN THREE PHASE DC MOTOR SYSTEM, WITH ESC (ELECTRONIC SPEED CONTROLLER) The voltage used to drive...

    Hub Motor and Wheel Size/Diameter

Don't mix up your thinking with regard to Ward Leonard and modern day 3 phase DC motors, as in e-bikes, as I was only trying to demonstrate the antiquated thinking of some people here. There are even today AC replacements for the DC Ward Leonard system on cranes, but not on any e-bike that I...

    Hub Motor and Wheel Size/Diameter

Your misunderstanding is misleading you......badly! Unless a motor has a gear system in it, (possible but I myself have never seen one), what you say cannot work for a range of wheel sizes. The motor will be wound for a certain RANGE of RPMs, not a fixed RPM as you imply. Having owned 2 e-bikes...
